Guest guest
, We have been told at our local support meetings that vitamins are essential for long term success with surgery. If you are having a problem already feeling tired, you are probably vitamin difficient. If you wait too long to do something about it, it may be too late to reverse serious problems like liver problems or kidney problems. Here are the vitamins I take in order of importance: 2 Childrens chewable multivitamin per day. Generic brand from Sams Club. There are about 300 vitamins in a bottle and they are about $9.00 for a bottle 3 Vitamin D per day. I got Twinlabs Allergy D. There are 100 in a bottle and they were about $2.50 per bottle. 1 Vitamin A & D per day. I ordered Twinlabs Allergy A & D. There are 100 in a bottle and they were about $2.50 per bottle. 3 Citracal Calcium chewables per day. There are about 100 in a bottle and the bottle was $4.50 at Target. Those are the basics. I also take two others that were because of problems I was having. 1 B-complex per day. This helps me with nausea. It was about $5.00 for 100 pills. 1 Vitamin K per day. I have had excessive bruising and I am trying the Vitamin K to help. It was about $6.00 per bottle for 100 pills. The best source of protein is in meats. If you aren't getting enough of that, try cheese or eggs. If money is really tight, I would suggest you start with the multivitamin. I found the bulk childrens chewables to be much cheaper and easier to get down. Kathy M. DS 7/19/01 213 pre-op 154 today
Guest guest
...oh my God, no supplements for 10 months! How's your lab work? Why didn't your surgeon's office recommend affordable options? Sorry, it's just that I'm really shocked. Here's what I take. It's very similar to other people on this list. Multivitamin: Costco's brand of Centrum Silver (I found they were more complete than their version of Centrum, on comparison), 1 tab in the AM, and 1 at night Calcium: Citrical, 2 tabs in AM and PM Water soluble vitamins: ADEKS, ordered via CF pharmacy on line. You have to order a 6 month supply a time, but you don't have to pay all at once, and it's the cheapest source I've found. Something like $15.00 per bottle as compared to $35.00 at CVS. Usually 3 per day, spread out. Sometimes 2 per day. I haven't had my first set of labs yet, so I don't know if I need Iron supplements I also take acidophilis capsules every day, and sometimes I take dairy care and beano. Not essential. Every couple of days I'll take a B complex, which I picked up at Costco. I'm glad you're finally getting serious about this. If you haven't had labs done recently, get them drawn now. You know, buying vitamins and supplements at Costco or another place like that is very affordable. I used to spend tremendous amounts of money on food, what I spend now on vitamins is nothing in comparison.
