Walt,

Filing for disability isn't as difficult as your doctor has made it out to be.

Filing is pretty simple. Just be sure to fill out the paperwork as completely as

possible. Once you have filed you may recieve a letter in the mail that Soc.

Sec. calls the " 10 day letter. " It's basically a letter they require you to

return with in 10 days of recieving it. In my case I got 2 of these letters.

They asked a few questions that I had also answered during the interview. My

best advice is to answer the questions and respond with brutal honesty when

asked " How does your disability impact your day to day life? "

When I answered these letters I wrote about 3 pages describing my day from

begining to end, giving details about my symptoms, pain, and the fears of

uncontrolled coughing spells. Whoever read that letter learned more about me

than my own husband had know. Within 2 weeks of mailing that letter I was

approved.

Your son is also eligible for benefits until he's 18. I've heard you can apply

for him at the same time. I waited until I had been approved myslef to apply for

my son's benefits.

I wish you the best! I'll be glad to answer any questions about filing for SSD.

disability he said I would qualify but it would take a long time to get on it. I

am not sure what to do.
