Guest guest
Hi nne, I know what you mean. Mercedes othopedist at our local children's hospital didn't see the osteopenia either, even though the skeletal survey radiology report sited osteopenia. I say yes. Get another endo.Get another orthopedist, even if you have to go out of the the area. Ask your other specialists for help in writing if you need to. At least they will know there is problem you are concerned about, and it is on record you feel more needs to be done, and then the ball is in their court. Our old endo was useless and the second endo at the same hospital is also useless. I told her about the ostepenia and she did no labs and didn't adjust the GH for weight , same as the old rotten endo. Right now I am waiting for the referral to go through for 2 other endos on California. We live in the middle of California, in Fresno. You will have to bug your local doctor's office. In fact today I had to drive 20 miles to the children's outpatient speciality clinic (they see the kids with complex medical histories)and put the contact info in the secratary's hand, personally. I had sent a letter in January and nothing had been done, because the secrectary didn't use the internet and type in the name and institution for the doc like I had done or pick up the phone and call me. If I hadn't sent a fax of the letter I wrote in January, and called to see how it was going, I never would have found out she was sitting on her hands. I am happy to say that yesterday, the Physician Assisant in the GI clinic wrote an order for a bone scan for Mercedes. I was sooooooooo happy! I had written letters to both the ped and the GI doc asking for one months ago, but neither gave me an order on the last visits. The GI doc at least ordered some labs to see what might be the problem, and the ped just wanted to repeat the x-ray after one year. I went to another instition and the ortho doc said the scans were only compared the reading to women in their 30's. I did my own research and found it was not true. (I am going to request another doc from that instution.) It is tiring to be the only brain in a stew of " educated people " . I have to become a female bear and a female dog with whip! If you are as patient I once was, the medical community will drag its feet. Better eat yor Wheaties. odmomx4 wrote: , You wrote an email on osteopenia. My daughter Mia was diagnosed by Dr. Harbison (in New York) with severe osteopenia. My endo here in Tampa is not concerned and didn't follow through at all with it. He told me he didn't see it on the xray and to come back for her routine follow up in 6 months. Should I go to another endo or a ortho doctor? Any advice would help! Thanks!! nne (Mia's mom) > Hi Everyone, > > I don't post as often as I used to. > > I know some famiies have an oestoepenia issue with their kids. > http://www.childrenshospitalla.org/body.cfm? id=13 & action=detail & ref=13 > > I found a bit of info refering to fat in the viseral area. I beleive the reference to viceral fat is on the first or second page. > > > mom to Mercedes 6 years old RSS, osetopenia, and more > > __________________________________________________ >
