Hi, ,

I did check Cooks Illustrated for you, but no review of cheese

slicers. However, I googled 'Review Cheese Slicers' and saw that a

lot of folks have written reviews of what they have used and found a

good buy/good slicer or not. Reading a few reviews can be helpful,

give perspective, and enough info that we are not buying based on

advertisement etc.

OK, now that I have cheese back, I am having trouble slicing it. I

have tried a variety of knives and they don't do very well (I'm using

cheddar and Colby mostly). Uneven slices at best and many times the

knife will cut down maybe an inch and slew the slice over sideways,

or shove the slice together to be lumpy, etc. A big mess when I just

want to slice it up relatively tidily, and freeze.

So, obviously I need a cheese slicer. I've never had one. I looked on

Amazon to start and there are more choices than I expected. It

appears that most of them have a base for the cheese and some sort of

swing arm with a wire that cuts. What do I need to know here? Good

brands? Bad brands? All help gratefully appreciated.
