does anyone know WHY there is increased risk of pancreatic cancer with the

removal of the lower stomach?

Judie: From what I read, I think it has something to do with the reflux that

occurs and it irritates the pancreas. I'm not 100 pct sure from my

recollection, but I know I posted all that info in the archives. Maybe I

should try to find them and re-post them? AGh! If someone runs accross them

and thinks this is a good idea, then repost the info. I am not on the

computer much nowadays here in Northern Michigan (don't have a phone line in

my house - only at my bro's house), so I may not be able to get to it. :)

I know that the lower part of the stomach is responsible for producing acid

and it's removal somehow affects or can irritate the pancreas. There is a

slightly increased risk but I can't remember how much of the risk there is....

all the best,
