Guest guest
> This question is for or anyone who can help. I have just bought my first order of Peptizyde and am planning to use them around Christmas. What is the exact dosing and timing of the dose? He is gfcf totally right now, so if I let him eat a gluten and casein laden meal how long before the meal do I give him the capsule? He can swallow capsules. How many capsules should I give to make certain it is enough to break down the proteins?...Thanks very much in advance. > Happy Holidays. Back to email schedule, so hope you weren't waiting on this too long. Dosing will fluctuate a little by the person. Enzymes are dosed by the type and amount of food eaten and not by body weight or age. For the most part, people have good success with about one capsule per meal. 1/2 a capsule to one capsule for a snack. If you are GFCF, then either 1/2 or 1 capsule should be plenty. You may want to start slowly when introducing enzymes. Maybe give 1/4 capsule at each meal for a couple of days, then 1/2 capsule, then a whole capsule. This seems to reduce any potential side-effects (the hyperness and loose stools for a few days are the main ones). Then after at least 1 week, maybe 2, on enzymes + GFCF food, you can do a planned infraction or go someplace you have little control over how things are prepared. A bunch of parents, including me, didn't go this slowly or cautiously without problem, but others have found this works well. Now if you are going someplace like grandparents and they are just thrilled to death at passing the treats to your child, you may want to give 2 capsules just to make sure. Enzymes will be good for around 60-90 minutes in the gut, so if a meal takes longer than this, or it is more like continuosly snacking, give a new capsule at the 60 minute mark (30 minutes to dissolve and then you have enzymes in the gut ready to attack the next foods). As for timing, since Peptizyde comes in a veggie capsule, have him swallow it about 25-30 minutes before eating to ensure the capsule is completely dissolved in the gut. If you even use gelatin capsules, you don't need to wait as these dissolve right away. If you mix the enzymes in a bite of food or drink before eating, you also don't have to wait. Grazing: Grazing is when a person doesn't sit down and eat 3 meals, but rather eats a little or snacks all through the day. For grazing, there are a couple of strategies that can work. One is to mix the enzymes in a drink and have the child take a drink before eating. The enzymes will stay active in the drink for up to 4 hours if it is kept cool. You can keep it in the refrigerator or add ice to it (or both). Another method is to sprinkle a little enzymes on a bite of food whenever he eats. Capsules open easily, sprinkle some out, and then reseal the capsule with the rest. Was this a looooong answer? Let me know if it wasn't clear enough. .
