On their site, they have malnourishment as one of the ways they determine your claim. If you weigh less than the " ideal " weight for your height, and if your fat content is high enough, i think they rule in your favor. Tammy, Thanks, but I already tried that! I met the malabsorption requirements by having the stool sample that showed a high fat content, and maintained a weight of 107 or below for over three consecutive months, all documented in the doctor's records. With height of 5'8 " , this was within the quidelines for malnourishment.....it didn't seem to make any difference, and that was with diabetes as a cause and the DKA, also. That was all in my first application that was turned down. Of course now, a year later, I've finally brought my weight up past those limits. And although I know all it will take is one bad attack again, and I'll be back down below 110, they don't know that. I don't know why it wasn't accepted in the first place and I don't think you can use something like that unless it's current. I will have to make sure that my attorney points out these old records, though, just so the judge can get the complete history/picture. Thanks, anyhow for the information. You never know, although I knew this, it might be something that someone else who's applying didn't know. You can be sure that I purused all those catagories and causes very carefully, to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Even though they have these catagories with reguirements that are supposedly enough to qualify if you meet the criteria, I've found that what they do to deny this is by saying the " impairment is not significant enough to cause disablement " . Or, in the case of my chronic pancreatitis claim, they keep saying that although I have it, " you are under treatment for it " .....as though that's makes it all better! I'd just love to find those reviewer's or judges who ruled for approvals of the disability claims of all the people I know who just claimed to have chronic pancreatitis, and nothing else, and were approved at the first go around. They certainly aren't in South Carolina! It seems to be a problem that is within this state. My claims go no further than the SC Social Security Office in the state capital, and these beauracrats in South Carolina seem to be going by a whole different set of rules.
