what about driving and pain meds

Hi all,

What do you all think about driving and taking the medication that we have to to

functiion? How many of you still drive and how many don't?

I just wanted to know because I have given up driving because of taking my meds.

I feel it is just too dangerous.

What do you all think?

I don't drive when I've had to take pain meds. That is just my

personal view..to me it's almost the same as driving when drinking

alcohol, I never did that also..mind you, I hardly ever drank..don't

much care for the taste of wines or spirits etc. The police can do

us for driving under the influence of drugs (even for pain) yet what

made me query about driving with pain meds also was the fact that if

it's actually illegal to do it, why do pharmacists put a label on

the pain meds saying...do not drive until you know how this drug

affects you...

Here is a synopsis of one study done on narcotics and driving:

The authors concluded that " long-term analgesic medication with

stable doses of morphine does not have psychomotor effects of a kind

that would clearly be hazardous in traffic " (p. 670).
