Specific recommendations include a daily diet of 2000-3000 calories, consisting of 1.5-2 g/kg of protein, 5-6 g/kg of carbohydrates, and 20-25% of total calories consumed as fat (about 50-75 g) per day. Deanna, There seems to be something askew with the diet you posted. It would be quite difficult to consume as much as 2 -3,000 calories on only 5-6 gr. carbohydrates, that's about equivalent to 1/4th slice of bread, 1/8 tsp. of peanut butter or perhaps about 5 strands of spaghetti pasta!!! The protein quantitiy also seems very low, 1.5-2 grams protein is also miniscule, since a 6 oz. piece of fish contains approx. 40 grams protein or a 6 oz. piece of chicken breast is 50 gr. protein. And as for the fats, I would have to say that I personally cannot physically eat as much as 50-75 grams of fat daily. My doctor permits no more than 30 grams of fat daily, and even that much can be hard to tolerate. There's just no way that those quantities would equal out to 2,3000 calories per day! So any way you look at it, this diet doesn't add up right for me. Could there be a mistake somewhere, or is that really how it breaks down? With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Guest guest
Deanna, LOL....it surely is some kind of an error, I wonder how many people actually notice this? Probably not many, but my day is consumed with counting fats, carbs and proteins now with both DP and diabetes. I've had to learn and memorize the nutrient breakdown of every item of food that I eat, so I tend to set off alarm bells when I see something that doesn't make sense. I knew what you were trying to explain, as the first part of the explanation made perfect sense....lol!.....but the rest was screwy. Hope you're doing well today.
