Guest guest
Hi, even the longest and most beautiful summer finally comes to an end and now I have time for an update. Fiona entered first grade two weeks ago and LOVES it. To my big surprise she has become quite independent and mature within a couple of weeks. A month ago we had our clinic appointment. Since we take part in a study about staph aureus they took a nose swab in addition to the normal throat swab. Turned out that Fiona had no staph in her throat but that it hides in her nose. The throat swab only contained h. flu this time. The most positive thing however is, that Fiona has no pseudomonas antibodies in her blood. The clinic offered to do this test for the first time. Although Fiona has never cultured positive for pseudomonas there was always the fear that it hides somewhere in her airways. Now we can be sure that she is pseudomonas free (yeah!). Her elevated liver enzymes have gone back to normal without medication. The only small setback of the whole appointment was, that Fiona was quite surprised that the CF doc showed no medical interest for Sebastian and that we didn't make an appointment for her brother at all. She couldn't understand how we were so sure that everything is okay with her brother and well, I didn't find a good explanation. Peace Torsten, dad of Fiona 6wcf and Sebastian 4 months wocf e-mail: torstenkrafft@...
