LOVE & BUGS, grandmomBEV I'm a nervous wreck Well, today went off to camp Wapsi with her sixth grade class for 3 days!! I am a nervous wreck! I know everything will go well I just worry about her being out where it is cold. I told her to wear 2 sweat shirts if she needs to and two pairs of socks. They are also going canoeing and fishing (OH my God I hope she don't fall in the water!!!!) She wanted to do this so bad!! And she is on collistin, cipro and we are doing the GSH too and she has to do her vest. I guess this will be a good test to see how she does without me. They will have a nurse there to help her and remind her to do the things she needs to do but I am still a nervous wreck about it!!! It's hard to be a parent let alone a parent with a child that has CF there is so much to worry about. I just wonder how I will handle it when she leave the nest!!!! I just hope I didn't forget anything!!! OK OK I FELL BETTER NOW!!! I GOT IT OUT!! SHE WILL BE FINE!! I HOPE!!! THANKS FOR LISTENING I KNEW I COULD LET IT ALL OUT HERE!! SHE NEEDS THIS BREAK FROM ME LIKE I NEED IT FROM HER!! THANKS AGAIN FOR LISTENING TO ME RAMBLE ON AND ON AND ON!! DEB A
Guest guest
THIS SURE BRINGS BACK MEMORIES. THE FIRST TIME THAT MY STEPHANIE WENT AWAY TO CAMP WAS WHEN SHE WAS IN 4TH GRADE AND SHE WENT TO THE CF CAMP IN THE SUMMER FOR A WEEK. I WAS SO WORRIED THE WHOLE TIME. THIS IS WHAT IS SO FUNNY. I WASN'T WORRIED ABOUT HER TREATMENTS BECAUSE I NEW THAT HER MEDICATIONS AND HER TREATMENTS WERE SCHEDULED BY THE STAFF AND THAT THERE WERE NURSES AND DOCTORS AT THE CAMP. THE ONE THING I WAS WORRIED ABOUT THE MOST WAS WHAT IF SHE WET THE BED!!!! SHE GOT ALONG GREAT AT CAMP AND THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME SHE GOT TO USE THE THERAPY VEST. SHE DID WET THE BED AND THEY HANDLED THAT ALSO. THESE ARE DEFINITELY LEARNING EXPERIENCES FOR OUR CHILDREN AND FOR US. IT IS HARD TO LET GO AND NOT PROTECT. Guest guest
Hey Deb! Well was a " little " older (16) but I let her go to Europe for 3 weeks with her German teacher and class. She had a great time. I got the docs to put her on Levaquin " just incase " and she didn't do Tobi or pulmozyme (we just couldn't figure out any easy way to keep it cold for 3 weeks.) We did check with the doc and he okayed it, so she just did her albuterol/intal and Therapep (No way I was gonna make her haul the Vest all over Europe). Was I nervous? YES!! But she had the time of her life. Oh and I did let her go to 6th grade science camp and was the same as you except its not really that cold here plus the cabins were heated, we didn't even have a Vest yet. and I tried to explain cpt to the " nurse " but I " m not sure if she did it or not. had a best friend with asthma and arthritis and ADD and the " nurse " kept trying to give this girl 's enzymes and give ritalin. Me and the other mom did end up complaining about her, of course the girls knew better than to take each others meds but still!!!! ah memories!! lol and hang in there Deb! love, M
