Guest guest
, You can read the first couple of chapters of BTVC on Amazon.com .... plus read about a hundred customer reviews of the book and diet there. That might help. If you've already looked at the supplement list on www.pecanbread.com... then you have seen the only supplement list that I know of. The most helpful part of that is the list of legal and illegal supplement additives, which can help you sleuth out whether your current supps have illegals in them. Beyond that, the supplement list is certainly NOT all-inclusive of every legal or illegal supplement there is out there. It gives quite an extensive list of Kirkman products, for example, but it's not necessarily updated or complete. Just a guideline. In terms of probiotics, Elaine Gottschall wanted us to ONLY supplement l.acidophilus.... and then later okayed the use of s.boulardii, for those who want to use it. Any brand name of either one of these strains is okay, as long as it doesn't contain trace illegals. We are NOT to supplement ANY form of bifidus, bifido or bifidum bacteria... no matter how strongly the doctor might be pushing these strains. Of course, it's up to each individual whether they want to include bifidus or not, but it's caused a fair number of problems for SCD-ers.... and is officially illegal. It's pretty prevalent in combo probiotics, so dilligent label reading is required. Welcome to the list.... Patti New here. Supplements & other ?'s Hi. My 8yr old dd's (anxiety disorder, metals toxicity) DAN NP reccomended SCD to us. I also have an 11yr old ds (AS, metal toxicity). I don't have the book yet but have been reading the website. I'm concerned about the supplements as both kids take tons of them. That is a big factor in deciding to go ahead and try this diet. My question is are there other legal/illegal additives listed in the book? Are any other probiotics leagal than the SCdophilus. I kind of want to get a really good idea if weather we want to go SCD before I invest in the book. As I'm sure all of you know when you are working with a DAN money gets tight. Also anyone started this diet with older high functioning kids. I'm really worried about all you know what breaking loose with my ds who's a carb addict. He also won't eat any fruits and most veggies because of the texture. Do you see good results with kids without obvious digestive distress? Thank you so much,
Guest guest
, I understand your concerns & am in a similar situation. I have an older, low functioning child (almost 12; severe ASD); he is already GFCF for years but this will mean BIG changes for him, particularly for snacking. And his 8yr old brother who is higher functioning who eats anything at the moment, so that will be tough too. I have 2 younger ones with food allergies. My oldest is on a *bunch* of supps & vits too & the younger ones as well & I am finding out there are several of them that are " illegal " . It's hard to digest all of this all at once; I'm taking it little by little... I am new & finding out answers as well.
