Guest guest
Is raw honey illegal??? I searched BTVC.com and couldn't find anything that stated that honey in the raw form is not okay.... I'm crossing my fingers that non-pasteurized honey is fine... Corey
Guest guest
I thought that was what I had read as well, but again a moderator would know for sure. I can tell you eating the raw honey sent me *off* completely! And I have major gut issues so it must have been terribly irritating, so if it is illegal it's for good reaons! Guest guest
I'm getting really confused. I just bought raw, unfiltered honey, thinking that was the thing to buy! UGH! So what kind of honey am I supposed to buy? Can someone clarify all of this? ~ Celiac, day one on SCD > >Reply-To: pecanbread >To: pecanbread >Subject: Re: Sugar Cravings; honey >Date: Sat, 19 Aug 2006 22:34:01 -0000 > >I thought that was what I had read as well, but again a moderator >would know for sure. > >I can tell you eating the raw honey sent me *off* completely! Guest guest
I found this on the illegal/legal list under " bee pollen " : " Bee Pollen Illegal Pollen is irritating to a damaged gut. Clear, pure, pasteurized honey is okay. Cloudy honey (still containing the pollen) should be avoided. - Sheila " I would imagine that's why raw honey is illegal? The pollen is still in there... but someone knowledgeable should confirm. Michele > > > Is raw honey illegal??? Guest guest
I seem to remember Elaine suggesting that we use filtered, clear honey....because of the pollen that could be present in unfiltered honey.... but I'm not sure if it necessarily *has* to be pasteurized in terms of SCD legality. So, the raw vs. pasteurized issue may be a matter of tolerance... not legality.... if it's the FILTERING that removes the pollen. I will keep digging around and see if I can verify this one way or the other. Patti Re: Re: Sugar Cravings; honey I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm pretty sure that I read in BTVC that to only use the clear honey, because pollen can be irritating to the gut. On the other hand I couldn't remember what part of the book or find it when I went looking to confirm, so maybe one of the moderators will correct me?
