I was wondering if you recommend me speaking to one of the support people, and anyone in particular? I think I need someone to speak to at this juncture. Thanks again. >
Guest guest
You are going to have ups and downs along the way. Healing on SCD is not necessarily a steady progression of improvement. Yes, this could be the famous 2-3 month " flare " . If you suspect the yogurt is causing you a problem, pull it... and see if you feel better. Any food on SCD is to be used " as tolerated " . Be patient with your body. Patti Gas Pains! I'll be starting week 10 of the diet and have been doing very well, except the past few days. I've increased my yogurt from a teaspoon to a few tablespoons. For the past few days I was very bloated and distended stomach. Today I woke up with gas pains (haven't had them in so long) and felt as if I had to run to the bathroom (but just gas). Very crampy and finally went (normally so far) but those painful gas pains are worrying me. My diet hasn't changed, except for the additional scd yogurt the past few days, and custard made with scd yogurt. I haven't felt like this since starting the diet. Could this be die-off again or that 2-3 month setback? Has anyone else experienced these crampy gas pains along the way. I'm a little concerned at the moment. Thank you all for any feedback. Guest guest
> Dear Patti, You can't imagine how helpful your response was for me. I've been sitting here in a " sweat " all morning, thinking, " IT'S BACK!!! " and over-reacting, as I tend to do with physical illness. This episode reminded me too much of the days before SCD (the gas pains and bloating especially), and that is one place I don't want to go back to, ever. I am going to pull the yogurt. I've done this a few times but always feel guilty like it's the most important part of the diet. Not sure where I got that into my head but I did. I seem to do okay on just 1/4 tsp a day or 2x a day, but I think I'll wait on that too. I also have been eating lots of avocado (some may be overripe) because I'm always aware of maintaining my weight. Thanks again so much. I'm breathing a lot easier. Guest guest
Ronnie, It could be a combination of the yogurt and die off. The most wonderful thing that I have found for gas pain is activated charcoal. I take a couple of them, and the bloating goes down quickly taking the pain away with it. Best thing for absorbing whatever shouldn't be there. The only caution is that it WILL absorb stuff, so if you take any meds or supplements within an hour or two (before or after) you could be reducing the effects of those with the activated charcoal. Guest guest
I've gone thru a couple of different bottles, and did not notice any difference between brands. Just make sure the capsules are 100% activated charcoal. Sue > > > > Thanks so much, Sue! Any special brand of activated charcoal?
