Guest guest
Is there really a ban on other types of dates? Or is that a reflection of the kinds of dates available throughout the country? I live in the part of the country where dates are grown and there are a wide variety of loose and " fresh " pure dates, without the sugar and the special packing and all. Does anyone know about these? Merika who used to live in the midwest and had never seen a decent date until moving out west, lol. >> Other dates cannot be used. Those are the very large Medjool dates. The ones from the bard valley are very naturally sweet and soft when fresh. Read more about california dates at: http://www.datesaregreat.com/ Carol F. Guest guest
I found this page last night in the book too But I take it like Patti, whereby any date straight off the tree is okay. Medjool is a type of date, like Fuji apples are a kind of apple, but all apples are okay. I was asking because I'd seen medjool stuff posted here recenty, and the thread on little bananas being different than the big ones. I liked the site you link, though Merika celiac > In BTVC, bottom of page 74, edition 10, Elaine specifies " loose California dates " as the > on;y type permitted. Elaine was emphatic that only the large Califormia dates were the only ones to be be used. She specified this when she lectured. Carol F.
