Hi ,

Sorry he's having such an awful time with this yeast die-off. Are you using

activated charcoal? It can really help with " soaking up " the toxins from

die-off. Epsom salts baths can help with de-toxing, too... make him calmer and

more comfortable.

Have you been using the SCD yogurt... or supplementing with acidophilus the

whole time on SCD?

I know that yeast can be very opportunistic and like to move in and take up the

space left behind by dying bacterial colonies.

That's why the yogurt/acidophilus is so important... the good flora takes the

space that yeast would otherwise take over.

We had one mom swear by fresh carrot juice with fresh garlic pressed into it...

as the BEST yeast remedy she'd ever tried.

I also know some parents feel that while Nystatin and other prescription meds

seem to be effective, they've seen yeast bounce right back (sort of a rebound

effect) as soon as the medication is stopped. I had first hand experience with

this when my oldest son (neurotypical) had a yeast infection after antibiotics

as a baby... and was treated with Nystatin.

Nystatin issues!

Hi All,

My son has been on the SCD diet for about 2 1/2 months now. We just

found out from our Dr. that he has HUGE............. yeast issues!!!!

She started him on Nystatin (SCD LEGAL) 8 days ago and he is a mess.

I know she said there would be a die off stage up until the 8th day

and then she said we should see him less stimmy, and OCD should calm

down too. Well it is day 9 today and he is on 1tsp before every main

meal and bed and he is very irritable and OCD. The good news is he is

having a lot of bowel movements per day and are normal, so I know that

bad stuff is coming out. Has anyone experienced this before and am I

expecting results too soon or should we talk about moving him on to

somthing stronger like Dyflucan?

Thanks,

Son 4 1/2 PDD-NOS-LYMPHOID HYPERPLASIA

---In the Autism books I have read there is a natural die off peirod

at 2 to 3 months. I know my son started to go through this on his own

then I started him on a yeast treatment and sent him over the edge in

behaviors. I have heard alot of moms say that during yeast die off

behavior problems worse. This diet to my family has shown to be more

effective then I ever imagined. I even stopped the yeast treatment

till after the 3 weeks of natural die off with my son- to lighten his

load becausse the diet itself was enough at the time.
