Guest guest
FOLKS WITH CF FLY ALL THE TIME. I would suggest you make sure you have something to be chewing as you take-off & land. It help for you to be swallowing so your ears don't " pop " have the doc check your sinus before so you don't get headaches, etc.If they are full of fluid. Folks will jump in with other ideas ...... Take your meds with you in a carry on........Make sure you take more than you need. know where the closest cf center is at your vacation spot........be prepared with letters explaining your Dx & all the meds that you will be carry on. (syringes, pills, etc.)...Make sure you have phone numbers for care givers/relatives, if they need to contact ---if you get sick. have a wonderful time LOVE & HUGS, GrandmomBEV Flying question? Hi - We were planning on taking our 5 yr old with cf and our family to Disney during the winter. I noticed in a previous post that there was a concern regarding flying in regards to the cf. Is it not wise to travel on a plane or are there certain things I should be concerned with while flying? Thank you; any advice would be greatly appreciated. ------------------------------------------- The opinions and information exchanged on this list should IN NO WAY be construed as medical advice. Guest guest
We have flown with the kids I think 4-5 times now and again tomorrow. We have never had any cf stuff. The usual sore ears on taking of and landing of which I even get. They spray the planes before they reload with the next flight. I don't worry about that stuff, unless we were sitting next to someone that was ill. Just go and enjoy. I don't even worry about crashes etc. I figure fate plays a role in everything. I do however have a will I give to my parent whenever we fly as to who gets what and that the out-laws get nothing LoL! I know a few cf people who have just returned from UK which is a 24 hour flight from here and they were not ill. (Australia) Flying question? Guest guest
My concern is not a usual one with CF my 6 year old has B.cepacia which is a very bad bacteria for any one with a compromised immune system ,cancer,or CF and the thought of a parent having to go thru the nightmare that I went thru when Rebekah was dx'd with it .I don't want to risk cross contamination it isn't as if I can ask everyone entering the plane do you have cf what germs do you have the air on airplanes is recirculated which means everyone who is on that plane is breathing someone elses air (Yuck).I am not a germ freak I just know how many times my child has been in the hospital and she has been 3 years at home with no hospitalizations since we started limiting her outside contacts(we have 8 kids so sometimes it is a joke trying to keep her from getting sick).BeckyB. Guest guest
There are also these great things called earplanes. They go in your ears and it helps to regulate the pressure so it is not so bad. My oldest daughter always has such bad ear aches when she flys and these seem to help that problem. I found them at my local drug store. Tina W Flying question? Hi - We were planning on taking our 5 yr old with cf and our family to Disney during the winter.
