Guest guest
None of us are SCD - yet. I am the closest to it in the family. But I am preparing & learning to switch everyone in stages. I use the ProBio Gold without inulin; sorry I wasn't more specific. I use BarleyMax & did not see it anywhere as legal or illegal. It is a highly misunderstood supplement, & is completely gluten free. I'm still not sure if SCD legal, but it's helped me & the kids quite a bit. However, anything would need to be checked for others usage which I would assume they would be doing. BTW, I was not recommending anything except the CLO & the cream, which I said would have to be checked. So I don't think I've caused any trouble, if one was reading carefully. I was asked a direct question as to what I did & what we use that helped my baby's eczema & I answered truthfully in hopes of helping someone. Perhaps I should have just answered privately & will do so from now on. I do think people have the right to informed answers & to search out the answers & figure out whether it's right for themselves. That's something we all have to do for our kiddos & ourselves. Guest guest
Started the fish oil this morning. Will give it a week or two to see if that alone does it. If not, I'll cut the other stuff. Guest guest
OK, glad to hear they make an inulin-free version. I was just going by our list on the website. The BarleyMax... I'm not saying it's illegal.... I don't have the power to do that, but... Here's a comment Elaine made about another product that contains powdered wheat grass and barley grass juices: <<* Grasses in this instance are not compliant, because we have no idea how well they were sprouted or if the seed coating was included in the product. >> Here's the ingredients in BarleyMax: <<Ingredients: Powdered juice from young, organically grown barley leaves and organically grown alfalfa. >> I'll defer to Mimi... or someone else on that. I think it's probably something that would have to be an individual choice, but sort of in that " grey area " ... where we really couldn't recommend it. If it has helped you, I'm glad..... but once you're actually on SCD, I don't want anything to impede your progress. <<BTW, I was not recommending anything except the CLO & the cream, which I said would have to be checked. So I don't think I've caused any trouble, if one was reading carefully. I was asked a direct question as to what I did & what we use that helped my baby's eczema & I answered truthfully in hopes of helping someone. The list is meant for discussion of SCD and not intended as a forum for " all things related " to autism, food allergies, supplements, etc. I wish it could be that, but we just can't. Sorry, Michele... I really was trying to be gentle about it. (I hate being moderator..... but need to fill in for Sheila until she returns.) We just truly have to stick to the topic. Putting all kinds of smiley faces on my " moderator comments " doesn't always help.... I'm tryin' tho. We're all friends here. We do have to be very careful about products we type into list e-mails... because it goes out to soooo many people. You'd be surprised at how some list members can mis-read and/or misunderstand. We'll get messages back weeks later regarding some illegal product, saying " But I read it on Pecanbread... so I thought it was okay " . It's so hard to make sure we're being clear. Anyway.... I didn't mean to beat you up. Patti Re: Supplements etc; eczema None of us are SCD - yet. I am the closest to it in the family. But I am preparing & learning to switch everyone in stages. Guest guest
, Even the immulin free is illegal, but use up what you have(obviously) if you can't return it. Yep; there's always lots of confusion on lists such as these. The GFCF lists are like that as well since I've been on them for years so I can appreciate trying to keep things clear. That's helpful for all. Sorry if I caused any confusion! > > Anyway.... I didn't mean to beat you up. > Patti Not black & blue at all! Just learning :-). Guest guest
OK... just read Meleah's post.... and then went to Kirkman's website. Our supplement list *should* say that even the inulin-free version of Pro-Bio Gold is illegal... because it has bifidus in it. Sorry about that.... and thank you, Meleah. <<I also have to eliminate the apple & pear I had been mixing in since those are not legal.>> Not sure where you got that idea?? <<Are apples & pears legal if they are cooked?>> Yes, apples and pears are legal. They just need to be peeled and cooked in the beginning. If you're juicing, it's okay to use them raw.... but juicing should be done very cautiously in the beginning, and ALWAYS dilute! The problem with apples and pears is the cooking down and concentrating that happens when apple juice and pear juice are commercially made.
