Clara Bars

These taste like you know what. They are pressed fruit and nut bars and

look like brownies. No cooking required but they are made with a juicer

like the Omega which has a cermamic rotating grinder using the blank

cone and food nozzle. Whole Foods sells a Spanish import that costs

about $10 for a wedge the size of a slice of pie. My figs were $.99 a

package, almonds . These alsao are found at raw food retaurants.

Dried figs or pitted Medjool Dates

Blanched almonds or walnuts (about 8)

honey (optional it makes the dough more pliable)

Put fruit through the juicer. it will come out like toothpaste from a

tube.

Blanch the almonds by allowing them to soak in boiling water 3-5

minutes. remove with a slotted spoon and when cool enough to handle

slip off skins. Mash the fruit and if required add enough honey to make

it malleable. Press in nuts. Press the dough into a mini loaf tin and

refrigerate 30 minutes. Gently ease from pan prying with a fork. Wrap

tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate. It is very rich and you will

only want small slices. Figs have seeds and are an advanced food but my

juicer pulverized them
