Guest guest
Hello - I have not been on line for several weeks, so here is the update. Those of you who know me know I have pancreas divisum. I have recurring acute pancreatitis (and chronic pancreatitis per one of my doctors). I had bad attacks in Oct/Nov 2002. I saw Dr. Lehman at the IU Med Ctr in Dec 2002 and had ERCP - sphrincteronomy and two stents put in. I went 11 months with NO pain, NO symptoms. I also started Sandostatin LAR in January 2003. I got an attack in October 2003 which I contributed to being a week late for my Sandostatin shot (it got lost in the mail!!!) I did fine over the holidays (I have never been sick over Thanksgiving and Christmas, so there goes the theory that food causes it since I typically can't keep away from the holiday cookies, candy, and cheeseballs!). I got another attack in February 2004. This time my hemoglobin dropped to 7.0 and I got 2 units of blood. I was back to work in six days, though.!!! I AM a fighter!!! Last week I went to see Dr. Lehman at the IU Med Ctr and took my CAT scans/hospital records. He spent 30 seconds looking at the CAT scan and told me my duct was closed down again (I only have the minor papilla functioning ans the major papilla never got hooked up during gestation - my records say I have an " embryonic defect. " I will go on April 23rd to have another ERCP/stenting done. I seem to have good luck with it,as going 11 months with no attacks, no pain, and no symptoms is amazing to me. Thanks for listening.
