I returned to work the first time without pain meds for about three weeks.

I found I was basically working and going straight to bed every work day in

massive pain, headaches and exhaustion.. With a wife and two kids I came

to justify this is not a life-style I wanted to keep up. I started slowly

to take the meds while at work and find I am better but luckily I have a

non-factory job where injury due to lack of concentration is not a issue.

It's a " catch 22 " scenaro and I suggest you experiment slowly.

working and pain meds

To any of you who work, do you take your pain meds while working? I

was just wondering. I'll probably go back to work next week and am

scared to death to take the pain medication while I am working. I

don't know what's worse the inability to concentrate because of the

pain or the inability to concentrate under the influence, so to

speak. Any thoughts, greatly appreciated. Tammy

Tammy,

I know it's a hard decision to make. I started out taking a very small

dose of hte pain meds (1/2 of what I was supposed to be taking) while I

worked because I just couldn't work with the pain, but was afraid to

work with the pain meds. I was able to work for about 2 years on the

pain meds, but eventually had to give up my job because the side effects

just got too bad, but I was in too much pain to not take them. It's not

a fun decision to make. I just wanted to let you know that I sympathize

with you and I know how hard it is to make that decision and let you

know what I did when I was faced with it.
