Guest guest
Deanna, I was in for two weeks and two days. My longest hospital stay yet. Plus I managed to fall and crush a disk in my back while I was there, which didn't help my recovery any. In fact, it made things worse. I don't specifically take anything for depression, but my medication for neuropathy is also commonly prescribed for antidepression, so I guess you could say it's doing both for me. Plus I periodically see a psychologist, which helps a great deal. I can talk thing out and not let them fester as they would on my own. Luckily, I've been able to spot when I'm starting to fall into a depression, so I can make sure I don't stay that way for long or it's a trip to the psychologist to pull me back. My GI just said that " diurectics are a problem with pancreatitis " , not specifically naming any by name. It may be that he doesn't know about Lasix, or that he just didn't want me on any more medication, especially since the edema is only an occasional minor complaint. He was more oriented toward focusing on smoking as a cause for the edema, saying that if I stopped smoking, the edema wouldn't ever be a problem, but of course, that's not factual, either. His mother died of lung problems from smoking and he's been on my back about smoking ever since I became his patient. I know I have to quit once I start my peridontal surgery, it's just impossible now because EVERYONE in my household/family smokes; husband, three sons, daughter, sister, daughter-in-law, father, brother's, etc.......I mean everyone, and there's little hope of support or cooperation with my efforts to stop. I know that the peridontal surgery will bring a stop to it, though, and then I'll turn into a real B - - - - and kick all of them out-of-doors. Hope you are doing well and that your back is feeling better. It's too bad it happened while you were visiting friends.....those luggage carrier's can be a bear to push around sometimes, but still easier than trying to carry the bags yourself!! Guest guest
Heidi, that's always possible about the Lasix. My edema is much worse then yours then. If I don't take the Lasix, I feel like I'm about ready to burst out of my skin, it's so bad some days. So I guess in my case, I have no choice but to be on some sort of diuretic. I don't smoke, so I can't speak from fiirst-hand knowledge, but I've heard that if a couple both smoke, it's very difficult for one of them to kick the habit if the other continues to smoke. So I can see why you haven't even though your doctor is bugging you about it. I never had to worry about getting addicted to cigarettes as I'm allergic to the smoke. I found that out the first time I tried smoking. I had friends that smoked and they asked me if I wanted to try it. I was a teenager, so of course I tried it. I got so sick I threw up On one cigarette.. And that happened every time I tried it. I thought it was a fluke at first, but after several try's I got the message. My back is slowly getting better, though I still can't bend down very well and you can forget trying to pick anything up if it weighs more than a cat (about 8-10 pounds). In fact, I can't pick up my biggest kitty because he is so huge. He's almost 16 pounds ( and not fat, just big. In fact, he's a little skinny). I hope you are doing well and have some pain free days. Guest guest
Andre, actually, it was knd of for both of us. Heidi is the one who smokes and is having the periodontal surgery. She was replying to a message from me earlier regarding diuretics. it's okay though. I've done similar things and I didn't have the excuse of sleep deprivation, just bad memory issues. I wish I could help you get some sleep, though. I've occassionally had such night, though I usually collapse after staying up for about 25-30 hours without sleep. Also, I have some sleeping pills that usually work, but every once in a while, they won't do anything to help me sleep. Has your doctor tried prescribing a sleep aide for you, or has that already been done and had no effect? Take care of yourself and I'll pray that sleep is in the near future for you., Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... Guest guest
Andre, oh, yes, I know those sleep-a thon days. I've been having a week full of them, but mostl;y because I've had diahrea for the whole week, as well as pain and a little nausea and it is making me very tired, so I sleep a lot. Yesterday and Today were the first two days I've been up before 5pm. And I'm still tired. I'm fighting the need to sleep. The doctor put me on trazadone for those nights of sleeplessness. I've found that I have to take it before midnight or I'm a zombie the next day, too. I'm sure the pain and diahrea will pass, they usually do. You try and take it easy. Have you thought of maybe cutting the atavan in half to see if maybe that give you the sleep you need without making you a zombie? KImber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@...
