Guest guest
Jen: I just recently had a job interview and wanted to be honest with my prospective new employer. I waited until we discussed insurance, and then I mentioned that I had been pretty sick last year, and was diagnosed with a chronic illness, and just wanted to make sure they wouldn't exclude me for a pre-existing condition. He asked a little bit about what I was sick with, and I honestly told him I was really sick last year, but with medications and proper care I have been doing much better. I didn't feel like I needed to go into a lot of details. I spoke with my counselor about it too last night, and she also said that if the employer was interested they would ask you questions, if they aren't concerned after you tell them, probably no need to go into a lot of detail. I did get offered the job, and the main reason I didn't take it was because I felt like the demands would be too great on me (health wise) at this point. Before being sick, it would have been my dream job, but I'm going to have to be patient and wait for something better. I hope this helps. Robin R.
