Guest guest
Hi Shirley, Thanks for adopting me. I don't feel as lonely as I did before, now that I have friends to play with. I was inspired when I first join this group and you have just had your surgery with Dr. Sutherland the December before I join the group in the following February. I too contacted my insurance co to try to get to see Dr. Sutherland. but was turned down, because the insurance company said the auto-islet surgery is experimental. I even had it reviewed and the still come to the same conclusion. This past week has been a rough one pain wise, the CP has reared it's ugly head once again and is acting in a major attract. But at least today, I think the medicine is finally kicking in. I sorry to hear that you have other medical problems too. CP is bad enough by itself. Well, to answer your question, if you throw me the baseball, will I throw it back? Well, I be glad to caught the baseball, but I have to mail it back, because my throwing arm isn't what it use to be. Thanks again for your reply. Take Care, Louie in WV
Guest guest
Hi Diane (Boise), I'm hanging in here. I'm gradually getting better. Today I've been real tired, so didn't do too much. I see the OS Monday, so we'll see what he has to say. I figure I still have another 1/2 to 2 1/2 weeks before I can chew. I even dreamed the other night I eating and chewing (geez). I am able to eat my scrambled eggs, jello, soup, Cream of Wheat, etc that I can suck in. I still have about 4 Boost or Ensure a day to keep the calories up. I try not eat with my husband, too hard watching him eat " real food " . I'll try to post another picture on Tuesday. Swelling wasn't much of a problem for me. I have noticed I can feel the screws or plates on my left lower jaw, but not on the right side, so have a question about that for OS on Monday. I have noticed I have a little white spot on right lower side (about where they cut), which I hope isn't some sort of abcess. I debated whether to take some left over antibiotics but decided I'd wait until Monday. Still not sleeping too good at night, but do manage some time on sides. May just take a sleeping pill tonight. I'm still trying to get my thyroid medication back on track. My heart rate was still elevated until Tuesday, so I stopped my thyroid medication for 5 days. Now on lower dose and will up gradually, probably next week. Your pictures are fine. With what they can do with the surgery, you'll be surprised how different you'll look afterwards. A lot of time they have to move both jaws to accomplish what they need to do as was my case. The Lefort really wasn't that bad, I do have more numbness from it than the BSSO, though. Hopefully by 12 weeks most of that will be gone. I plan to ask OS on Monday how long he thinks it will take to go away. It just drives me nuts some times - no much pain just feels tight, etc. We'll see what happens when I finally start to really chew. I hope the TMJ's don't give me too much problems. I'll post an update on Monday after I see the OS. Hang in there. There will be ups & downs with the braces. Nothing real major, but just expect some sore teeth, etc. Usually my OD recommends you take Advil or the like before they work on teeth. The only time I had a real problem with braces (other than wires poking me or something like that) was when they banded the back molars. They had to go under my gums and it got inflamed, but 3 days of peridex and that took care of it. It's a long process, but you'll be happy with the results I'm sure. Just keep asking questions. I always have my list when going to the OS! Keep us updated on know how it goes with your braces. Take care. Shirley
