Guest guest
I'm concerned that you are probably killing off all your GOOD flora along with the bad, if this... << 15-30 drops of GSE every day, and 4 drops of oregenol.>> .....is something you're doing EVERY day, on an ongoing basis. From what I understand, you need to rotate the natural antifungals.... & take a break from them now and then. Are you not using the SCD yogurt? You only mention that you take supplemental probiotics (hopefully not at the same time as the anti-fungals). As far as putting something for killing yeast in from the bottom end, I know absolutely zero about that so won't venture to advise you. I think maybe you need to find a good naturopath who is well-versed in yeast and GI issues. I'm not sure if you are suggesting to put the clove of garlic in down there?? Talk about CAUSTIC! I would think that would potentially burn the tissues. I couldn't recommend that. Fresh garlic would be a great addition to your diet... and in fact, fresh carrot juice with a clove of fresh garlic pressed into it has been highly recommended as an excellent yeast remedy by one of our list moms who has tried EVERYthing else. Beyond that, I would push the SCD yogurt.... and make sure you're getting plenty of carbs in the form of squash and other veggies, if you're not using fruit and honey. Patti rectal yeast killers I need some advice in battling what I think is yeast. I'm an adult with CD, and have been on SCD for 3 years. Guest guest
hi debora, google natasha mcbride as she talked about this at a recent conference i was at - said was one of the best things to do to get the good bugs up there to fight the bad... she has a chapter in her book about it so im sure you could find the info online too? if you cant let me know and i can get it out and have a quick look at what she suggests! roweena x mumma to audrey 3yrs - new to SCD rectal yeast killers Posted by: " Debora Wade " dholt@... Wed Sep 27, 2006 6:52 am (PST) So my question; I want to start focusing on the bottom up. I figure if I can get yeast killers in my rectum and descending colon, then probiotics, I would have better luck than from the mouth end. I know of retention probiotic enemas, but does anyone know of an anti-candida that I could put in a retention enema first before the probiotic? GSE and oregenol seem way too caustic to put up my rectum; has anyone else had success with some natural antibiotic/antifungal that they used rectally? My GI doesn't have a clue and said " I'm pushing the envelope " in this; he thinks it could be a good idea (at least the probiotic ) but beyond that, is no help. My family practice doctor suggests a clove of garlic for hemmerhoids....Anyone have some ideas? Debora SCD 3 years!

From > what I understand, you need to rotate the natural antifungals.... & > take a break from them now and then. I took a break the entire summer, but also ate fruit, so I'm starting over again. I do forget some days, so it's not EVERY day, and I rotated them in the past, so will probably do it that way this time. I'm trying to just get up to an effective dose; I'm told that Oil of Oregeno should be worked up to about 15 drops 2 X a day, and the GSE as well in order to be most effective. > > Are you not using the SCD yogurt? You only mention that you take > supplemental probiotics (hopefully not at the same time as the > anti-fungals). Oh, I eat a lot of yogurt; probably more than the recommended 3 cups a day. Lucy from Lucy's kitchen shop ( I think) told me that our yogurt is more thermopholus and bulgarus than acidopholus, though, so I supplement as well, and also with different probiotics. But after the antibiotic, the intro diet and homemade yogurt weren't touching the diarrhea. But yogurt is a staple in my diet. > > I'm not sure if you are suggesting to put the clove of garlic in down > there?? Talk about CAUSTIC! I would think that would potentially burn > the tissues. I couldn't recommend that. It's a common relief for vaginal yeast infections, and my doctor recommended it for hemmerhoids. I've done it a couple of times, and it doesn't burn at all, but I have a fear of it getting stuck, so I haven't repeated it in some time. > > Fresh garlic would be a great addition to your diet... and in fact, > fresh carrot juice with a clove of fresh garlic pressed into it has > been highly recommended as an excellent yeast remedy by one of our > list moms who has tried EVERYthing else. Is the carrot necessary for delivery? Because I know carrots are a sweeter vegetable, and I thought they could potentially feed the yeast. Is it used to make the garlic juice more palatable for children? I'm wondering if something else could be used (celery, greens, etc.) because I feel cautious about drinking large amounts of carrot juice for yeast. I do eat about a clove of raw garlic a day; I want to start drinking more vegi juice, so will try the juiced garlic as well. > > Beyond that, I would push the SCD yogurt.... and make sure you're > getting plenty of carbs in the form of squash and other veggies, if > you're not using fruit and honey. The winter squashes I cannot eat daily; they will give me mushy stools. I try to make sure every other day I get something like beets, or squash. And I eat zucchini often, as well as green beans. It's a balance trying to eat enough carbohydrates without eating so much as to set me back. I just never knew yeast and whatever other pathogen I'm dealing with could take so long to starve out! I wish I could just eat everything SCD and be well, but it seems that antibiotic really did a number on my digestion, and I do what I have to keep solid stools. I am going to try slowly upping my probiotics, continue on with the natural antifungals and rotate them, and eat more garlic. Meanwhile, I think I may start experimenting with probiotic retention enemas. And saurkraut and yogurt.....(not as enemas! ) Debora

I remember Elaine telling me that the thermophilus and bulgaricus are the ones that actually just do the job of fermentation, that acidophilus is the only one of the three that is helpful for the gut, and that we need a steady supply of it. She did say that Dr. Haas told her to use BOTH... the yogurt, and an acidphilus supplement. What other " different probiotics " are you using? The only other one that is SCD legal is s.boulardii. <<Is the carrot necessary for delivery? Because I know carrots are a sweeter vegetable, and I thought they could potentially feed the yeast. Is it used to make the garlic juice more palatable for children?>> No... it's not just for " delivery " . The carrot juice itself, along with the garlic, is used specifically in combination, according to Tamaro, the mom who shared this remedy that was so helpful for her boys.
