Guest guest
Hi Cecilia! I will definitely be thinking of you and wishing you luck with your interview. I do hope you are successful. I am a deputy head as you are. In a way I too have just got a " new " job. Bwteeen Oct and Feb I wrote a bid for my school to become a specialist college in Maths and Computing. (This is a current Govt. initiative and brings with it hundreds of thousands of pounds, though very definitely tied to the plans I wrote into the bid....we're not free to do just what we want with it!) Trust the Govt to act efficiently.....NOT!!!!! Schools finally heard last week if they had been successful...and we were! Of course, by this time, most schools have already written their timetables for next year so it is a mad rush to make the changes we need to implement the elements of our bid such as extra staffing (most newly qualified teachers have already found jobs by now), additional courses on offer etc. etc. The Govt. doesn't seem to realise these simple points which any teacher could tell them!! I was pleased because writing that bid had been therapy for me from last Oct. soon after I got my definitive CP diagnosis and felt my world had come to an end. Well, the " new " job is to manage the specialist college. Like you, I will also be losing most of that pastoral/academic interaction with students (those in difficulty usually!), upset parents etc. etc. I'm going to miss that a lot because I'm so used to people bringing those probs to me that it will be odd to have them taken to someone else (just appointed) to allow me to manage the specialist college. Only the very worst cases student cases should now end up at my door!! I'm still excited by the new job though. Of course, I don't know yet if my health will allow me to do it. I'm simply hoping for the best at the moment. Anyway Cecilia, I digress. I'm hoping the very best things possible for you tomorrow. It will be so exciting if you get the new job but, as I said to Chrissy when we were talking about work, if it doesn't work out for this one, there will be something better-for-you which comes along. Generally that's the way. You look back and think it was fortunate that you didn't get something you wanted badly at the time. However, I'll be sending good educational thoughts your way! Hope they're the right ones! With very good wishes, Fliss (UK)
