Guest guest
Hello Our son is 1 year old and initially took to his helmet fine. The last few days however he is suffering with a very red rash at the bottom of his head(near the neck) When we take the helmet off him to clean he tears at his head and scratches it quite badly. Anyone else have this problem? What do you recommend to remedy this? Thanks Dan
Guest guest
Hi there, My son is 16 months old, he's had his helmet 5 months now and is always suffering from itchyness and red spots / rash.. I usually just put some vaseline on it.. I feel sometimes it gets quite uncomforable for him buy hey lets hope it'll be worth it in the end. Guest guest
I know it sounds funny b/c of helmet stink but wash his hair less. We would wash his hair every day or 2 with burts bees b/c it is sulfate free and then to prevent the stink once a week we would use suave or loreal kids b/c of the strong scent. In the meantime though you may need to treat that area with hydrocortisone for the itch. You could also try some calendula containing baby wash or aveeno oatmeal bath. The soak not the wash (the wash contains sulfates) On 8/17/09, daniel_adair@... <daniel_adair@...> wrote: > Hello > > Our son is 1 year old and initially took to his helmet fine. > > The last few days however he is suffering with a very red rash at the bottom > of his head(near the neck) When we take the helmet off him to clean he tears > at his head and scratches it quite badly. Guest guest
Check with your ortho first, but we were told that if she developed a rash, we could put the oatmeal stuff on her head and let it sit before washing it. We were also told that it would help with dry skin on the scalp. We only used it preventatively a couple of times. didn't seem to need it. We were lucky in that she wore her band in the fall, winter, and spring. No summer wear. Re: Itching & rash I know it sounds funny b/c of helmet stink but wash his hair less. Guest guest
Talk to your ortho or ped about what they think. Ours told us to use hydrocortisone cream for that... but sometimes that can cause more irritation if baby is sensitive to it or if it is a yeast rash. HTH!
