Guest guest
hi I am new to the group and just had a few questions.... We are on day 2 of the intro diet and I was wondering what sort of symptoms/reactions other kids had during this time???? I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 22 month old. The eldest seems fine with no obvious symptoms and is eating the food without too much complaint however my youngest didn't eat today, looked pale and slept alot more than usual, was also not generally very happy. Both children are also constipated. Is all of this normal? How long will this sort of thing last? Is there anything I can give to stop the constipation or do I just wait it out? Is 5 days generally enough time on the intro diet or have people gone on longer?? Any advice/thoughts/opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Belinda
Guest guest
It is not recommended to use the intro diet longer than five days. The symptoms of your younger child are normal die off symptoms. Everyone's die off symptoms are different, but sleeping more, irritability, just not feeling well in general, ect. are normal. You can give activated charcoal and use epison salts in a warm bath to help ease the symptoms. Constepation and diharhea are also normal while your body is ridding itself of these bad guys. If it persists, you can look up Elaine's constepation protocall on the breaking the vicious cycle web site. Welcome to the group. Guest guest
Belinda, We usually suggest only two days of the intro diet, unless the individual has severe diarrhea. I'd strongly suggest doing Elaine's constipation protocol from www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info ... I believe it's in the " Knowledge Base " section. You might consider adding a supplement of magnesium citrate.... which would probably help alleviate constipation, too. It's quite normal for the kids to not feel too chipper... as the bad gut pathogens die-off. Patti intro question... hi I am new to the group and just had a few questions.... Guest guest
Hi Belinda, > we are on day three and had vomiting today, how long should I expect that to last???? Is there a lot of vomiting going on? Make sure your children are well hydrated if vomiting a lot and/or frequently. This was discussed yesterday see http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/pecanbread/message/57298 Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 22yrs mom of and
Guest guest
Let me just throw this in about vomitting. You should not give a child anything within 30 minutes of vomitting. I know that many people will offer their child a sip or two of water thinking that the poor child's mouth tastes yucky from the vomit. Any liquid or food will cause the child to vomit again because their stomach will just naturally convulse again so soon after vomitting. So, don't give them even a sip until 30 minutes after vomitting. This is not just a lay person saying this. This was told to me by my pediatrician's office when my oldest was about two years old. He had the flu and kept vomitting. Finally, the nurse asked me if I was giving him anything at all after vomitting. When I mentioned nothing...just a sip or two of water...she told me what I just told you all. I hope this helps.
