Guest guest
With our youngest, who has cf, and is now an adult, we opted for IV medication; with that one (this is not a recommendation) they used Tobramycin and Aztreonam, having done Synergy testing (rather primitive then) for resistance and sensitivities. Good Luck! And Welcome Aboard! Guest guest
Hi, I have no personal experience, but why in the world wants the doc give the Zithromax IV? According to the prescription information Zihtromax IV is used until a patient is able to take it orally. I assume that an 8 year old is able to swallow a pill. I would double check with the doc. Welcome to the list! Peace Torsten
Guest guest
Hi, My daughter was admitted 4 times for IV antibiotics. The first time at dx we stayed 2 weeks but the other times we came home on home IV's after about 7-10 days. I though this was MUCH easier than being in the hospital. It's not that hard at all to do the home IV's. My suggestion is watch the nurse when they do it if your son goes in. Ask them to explain what they are doing and tell them that you want to do it at home. Most nurses don't mind explaining what they are doing. I hope all works out. Mom of 5 with CF Pseudomonas leading to i-v antibiotics I'm new to the list and delighted I've found others that may help me with my concerns. My 8 yr old son wcf has been battling pseudonomas for a month or so that we know of.After double vest therapies, triple albuterol, tobi, and cipro, he is still somehow not able to fight this darned bacteria off.He has had a colonization before but the tobi knocked it out.Now drs want to admit him for iv zithromax(sp?) for 2 weeks.I'm scared to death!I have 2 more wocf that are 3 & 4 and I cant figure out how to juggle my full time job(thats frankly sick of me needing time off to care for him), take care of my other 2 and be with my cfer at the same time. Its my understanding that I can learn how to take care of the iv so he can spend the majority of the 2 wks at home, but I'm uncertain that I can pull it off.Does anyone have any imput as to which is the better way to go, letting him stay in the hospital or coming home?I have dogs and cats.(With 3 kids its more like a zoo than a home lol)Please respond with any personal experiences or thoughts you have to the site or by emailing me:hark523@...
