Guest guest
I was told not to put enzyme beads through the tube. It might get clogged up by the beads. Crystal...beads by tube... Just curious... You mentioned that you've concerned about developing an oral aversion because of the beads. Have you tried putting beads through the tube? Guest guest
My son is exclusively g-tube fed (oral aversion). We nearly force fed him so often since he wasn't gaining weight that he simply stopped eating altogether once the g-tube was in. We use Viokase enzymes which are a powder. They can't be given by mouth but we mix it with water in a syringe and it is WONDERFUL. Works too. Our dietician was hesitant about using them but we have had no problems once we found the right amount. There is also another enzyme that is designed to go into a g-tube--Pancrecarb. But the viokase is much easier in our experience. We are able to give him enzymes while he is sleeping. mom to Ashton 31 months wcf > I was told not to put enzyme beads through the tube. Guest guest
The VioKase is what we use in 's g-tube if she is asleep too. We do start her out with her regular Creon 5, but she usually falls asleep during the feed. Crystal...beads by tube... > > > Just curious... Guest guest
Pancrecarb is an enteric coated enzyme that is designed to go through a G-Tube (and be taken orally) as long as the tube is big enough. There is a special recipie that you mix and it works incredibly well. We have rarely had problems with beads getting stuck and we have used this method 4-5 times per day now for 8 months. The two times the tube was clogged, we easily unclogged it with Coke. I hope you find a plan that works. Donna
