Guest guest
Bob: I don't have any real suggestions for you as I'm relatively new to all of this myself but just wanted you to know that we're here for you. I really hope that all of this can get straightened out and in a big hurry!! It's hard enough dealing with the pain and illness w/o having such problems with medical bills and doctors. Let us know how you're doing ok? best wishes to you
Guest guest
Thanks, . I don't know what I would do without this group. At first, I really didn't know much about this disease, and it seemed either did the doctors. Then, being on such strong pain medication, my wife turned on me in the worst way. I would have thought since she has MS she would have some understanding. It seems to her that things should be black and white, and you go to the doc, they do something, and you shouldn't have to be on pain or in pain after that. I found myself purposely not taking pain med just to prove to her and eventually myself that I 1. was not addicted to the meds, and 2. truly having pain. I proved it to myself but she lacks patience. I know someone else with pancreatitis, but his is a bit different than mine. When I came across this group, which was recommended to me by a member who also was a member in the first group I joined, saying this group was much better. So I joined and after reading through the posts, for the first time I felt like I was not alone in this. In fact, a lot of folks on this group were taking the exact same pain meds as I was! I printed out those posts for my wife to read. (On the night I was taken to the hospital, and the doctor told her I would not make it through the night, she sat there angry at me because she thought I had brought this all on myself because I wasn't watching my diet close enough. My brother, who was there that night, knew that and purposely asked the doctor if this could of been prevented. That night my triglycerides were over 8000. The doctor told them both that even if they shoved big macs into IV style for a year there is no way that would cause what happened to me. Weeks later after I was out of ICU, she came to me tearfully and apologized for that whole episode, which I didn't remember anyway.) I am extremely thankful for this group. I've found encouragement and insight. In fact, I am thinking about taking those same printouts to my new doctor! Yours in hope of a cure! -Bob Potter > Bob: I don't have any real suggestions for you as I'm relatively > new to all of this myself but just wanted you to know that we're > here for you. Guest guest
Hi again Bob: I know what you mean about the doctors not knowing much....why is this such a mysterious illness? I just don't understand it in the year 2004!!! Doesn't seem we've come must farther than the 1960s or so with any of the research....well, most of it anyway. I'm glad you found this group...well, not glad for the reason you found it..but glad that you found us for the support. What pain meds do they have you on? How long have you had cp? What sorts of treatment are you currently undergoing? I know people get sick of my questions, but I'm interested in finding out all I can about this illness. Well, take care and hope you're having a good day today... best wishes
Guest guest
Lesley, have your doctors tried Niacin for your triglycerides? I had a bad reaction to all statins and my doctors have switched me to Niacin. It works really well, but the only draw back is that there is a big flush when you take the pills. If your doctors do want to try it, have them increase your dosage from really really low to the recommended dosage very slowly. That way your body gets used to the flush.
