Guest guest
Do you already have a dan doctor? Is the dan doctor the one telling you that this stuff won't work? If it's your regular old pediatrician, I would just ignore him, and consult your dan on all of this. If it's your dan, I'd highly recommend that you find another one. If you don't have one yet, I can recommend mine, and I know that Gay keeps a list of recommended doctors by state who will support you in your scd endeavor. I'm sorry that I can't give you any specific help on the current problem with your son's vomitting, refusal of food, ect. I don't feel like I am qualified in this particular situation with only having had my son on scd for five months now. I know that the veterans will jump right in to help you out with some advice. I will pray for your son though. Guest guest
Hi mrsrous, > my son woke up this morning limp and lifeless throwing up yellow > stomach stuff. he didn't want to get in his chair but finally did. > he pushed all the food away so after an hour i gave him his juice > bottle with nystatin. he has not had a stool for 3 days. The listlessness and vomiting may be die off symptoms. Have you tried epsom salt baths and/or activated charcoal; others have found these a tremendous help. scroll down on this page http://pecanbread.com/badreaction.html Is he drinking anything? Either some of the legal diluted, water etc.. You don't want him to become dehydrated . You might also try the electrolyte drink. When my kids were vomiting a lot I gave them this. One wouldn't drink it straight so I gave it to him in a syringe a number of times of day. I told him it was medicine so he took it. His sister made " this is yummy " sounds when she drank it from the syringe so he tried it. ELECTROLYTE DRINK from the LI Listserve 1 quart boiled water 2 tbsp. honey 1/4 tsp. of salt 1/4 tsp.baking soda Can be kept in refrigerator for 24 hours. After that, a new batch should be made. > the 1st day we force fed an ounce of chicken soup, day 2 through 4 > my son ate nothing but diluted juices. day 5 we had a breakthrough: > he ate a pureed cooked pear breakfast and lunch. we took him off the > intro and are just trying to give him any legal foods we can think > of that might interest him. avocado/carrot puree, carrot and chicken > broth puree, cheese cookies, jello squares....but he will have > nothing to do with them. there is nothing in the cookbook that > resembles anything he is used to eating. even if we puree the food > like baby food he still won't eat it because he doesn't like the > taste or won't try anything new. Some of his refusal to eat may be becuase he doesn't feel well with the die off. Let us know if the vomiting continues or if gets worse. Since he hasn't eaten a lot in the last few days that may explain his lack of a bowel movement. It is also fairly common when starting the diet.
