Guest guest
Hi , Our son is almost nine months now and we will be getting a second band, too. He started June 1st. He has almost outgrown this band. At first I didn't want to go through with it, but my husband didn't hesitate at all. He always sees the bigger picture. It helps to remember that this is a small window of opportunity. We won't regret trying to get the best results possible. So, I am in the same boat as you. > > Hi all, > Our son is eight month now. He has an moderate plagiocephaly, with asymmetric shape. We decided to start the treatment with the DOC band and he has been wearing it for 5 weeks now. When I take the band off, I see that the asymmetry is reduced now, but he still has a flatness in the back of the head. I was wondering whether this would get better, or whether he would need another band to fix this. The technician at Cranial tech. said he has about 5 more weeks to go with the current DOC band, and we would see about the possibility of another band. I am very reluctant to this. Anyone experienced a similar situation? > Thanks! > >
Guest guest
CT uses slightly thinner foam than hanger or starband. Those bands can be worn longer. However I've talked to the CT people and they feel they provide the best pressure on the head to redirect growth, while allowing the band to be adjusted. It is a fairly common complaint that the child outgrows the band too quickly, but to be honest I would say their overall " customer satisfaction " is higher than the other providers. This is totally non-scientific, and only my opinion after being in this group for several years. So while it might be nice for the band to last longer, I'm not sure the overall experience would be better if the foam were thicker (and could be worn/adjusted longer). -christine sydney, 3.5 yrs, starband grad > > We are in the same boat...Our son got his 1st helmet around 5 months old. He's got about 6 weeks left before we decide if we should go with helmet #2. #1 has helped but the back of his head is still flat. It totally stinks as we're fighting insurance to pay for the first one, still. But regardless, if his head doesn't curve out in the next six weeks, we'll get him helmet #2 because, as most parents, we will do anything for our children. > > What I don't understand is, why didn't they make the helmet a little bigger then to allow for more than 12-14 weeks of wear?!?!? >
