Guest guest
I've had a gastric emptying test and can tell you that the test is no big deal. The worst part is that you get bored out of your mind waiting for a couple of hours for the stomach to empty. Bring some good reading material with you. The night before the test you need to fast so you go into the test with an empty stomach. As part of the test you will be supplied with a normal breakfast; for example boiled eggs, toast and juice. One of the breakfast items will have a radioactive tracer in it. In my case, it was the yolks of the boilded eggs. Then a technician takes pictures of the radioactivity as it passes through your stomach which should take a couple of hours. There is no discomfort involved and if somebody doesn't tell you, you won't even know when you eat the radioactive tracer. In my case, the test was done when a doctor was still trying to figure out what was wrong with me and the test showed that my stomach was working normally. Jim > I hope everybody is doing well. Guest guest
I have had the Gastric Emptying test. All it is is you eat an egg salad sandwich and it has some radiation in side that they track the flow of the radiation through the x ray. The ammount of radiation is so small that you dont even notice it. Its nothing big its just to see how fast your stomach empties the food. That is what the MD's want to know. I have had it done 2 times and the GI doc wants me to get it a 3rd because it takes me like 10 to 14 hours to digest a meal and its not good. I am on the ensymes and have been for about 2 years now but it still isnt helping that. Dont worry about the test it is really nothing. If you have any more questions dont hesitate to ask ok?
