Guest guest
Carol, welcome. Sorry you've got to deal with CP, though. Don't worry, we all have our bad days and that does tend to color how our posts turn out. We all understand how that goes. I'll pray that the surgery goes well. If you want, you can post an address to send cards to once you've got your surgery date set, if you don't already have it set. I look forward to hearing more from you as time goes by. Guest guest
Welcome to the group Ali and Paddy! It's nice to have new people and we hope to get to know you better over the next little while! and Hayden (06-19-05) alisontatum wrote: Hi! I just wanted to introduce myself and my family. Our son, , is 5 months old and was born with bilateral club feet. He was casted at 6 days and wore casts for three months, with tenotomies at 9 weeks. He's been in straight-laced shoes and the DBB (nights only) since then. His feet already look perfect. We live between DC and Baltimore and we see Dr. ,who worked with Dr. Ponseti in Iowa. She's at s Hopkins and we are totally happy with her and our son's progress. I'm sorry I didn't find this group months ago when we first found out and had no idea what would happen. We went in for a check-up a couple of days ago and everything looks great. Paddy's doing well, although still having trouble sleeping with the bar occasionally. He wakes himself up, trying to turn over. He was sleeping through the night before he got it, and then started again after a month with it. Then he got the flu and we traveled one weekend. We basically had to start over with it. I think he's figuring out the best sleep position again. It's weird, too, because we never took the bar off during that time. Same ol', same ol'. I'm new to all of this and don't know all the terminology so bear with me. Thanks for having me. It's nice to have somewhere to go when you need support, advice, etc. Ali Paddy (10/21/05) Bilateral CF DBB nights only
Guest guest
Welcome to the board! I loved the pictures you posted-your little man is quite handsome. Any reason you have him wear his shoes(no bar) during the day? My other thought on the sleep issue is that his bar looks to me to be too short. Typical measurement is either heel to heel or bolt to bolt should equal the width of his shoulders. Kori came up with an easier method than what we had been doing to measure. See if Paddy can lay in between his shoees(shoulders and all) or you can hold the bar/brace up to his back and see where the heels/or the bolts lay. Looking at his picts-it looks short to me! Just an idea-if the bar is too narrow than Paddy can't rest comfortably cause his hips will not be able to flex right. His feet looked beautiful and again, he is a handsome little man. Guest guest
Hi again Alison, Just wanted to add that I just looked at his pictures too. What an absolute cutie!! I totally agree with Kathleen. That bar looks way too short. We find that most babies are most comfortable with the back of the heels of the shoes as wide as their shoulders. If his bar is too short that is a definite reason for night waking. Hope this helps, Mom to Jenna (4/7/01) & Sammy (9/25/04, RCF, Dobbs' brace, 12-14hrs/day) > > > > Hi! > > > > I just wanted to introduce myself and my family.
