Guest guest
Again you are not tellin fact. I know for a fact that he has operated on a woman older than 55. I met her at group in Hickory. Her husband had the billrothll in the military and he is doing fine, her daughter also had the mgb and she is pregnant, and doing fine. Yes I have talked to them. LOOk in the manuel he is not hiding the complications he sets them out for all to see and we have had to write pages of what can happen. You say that we may get cancer in 15-35 years Isnt that funny that if I am 41 now in 35 years i will be 76band in 15 i will be 56 about the time most people find out they have cancers. The truth is that we all are candidates for cancer at that age. There is a 30% chance that we will get cancer from eating pickles and processed meats. If we already have problems with ulcers and gastritis we again have a 30% chance of developing cancer of the stomach. If we have reflux (which the surgery does help)again higher rate of cancers. So arent you just trying to scare people, with Half truths? hugs marg
Guest guest
" ... at least 186 of us can expect severe complications and at least 14 of us will be dead within 15 years. " Rutledge put up a study under what he calls " BII morbidity " that shows the BILLROTH II (he calls it the " MGB " ) HAS SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER COMPLICATION AND DEATH RATES than he has previously admitted. http://www.clos.net/aotd/06-00/aotd0602.htm see also: http://www.fourlane.com/mgb http://www.mini-gastricbypass.com/OtherDoctors.htm The study was of 526 patients who had a Billroth II at anytime between 1974 and 1989 (15 years). The study was to see how many of these people got complications and how many died from the Billroth II. Note this 15 year period does not include people who got cancer from the Billroth II and died. The cancer studies find that cancer occurs at 15-35 years after the Billroth II. It shows that after the Billroth II, there is a 21% complication rate and a 1.5 death rate directly caused by the Billroth II. The study also notes (as the studies on my webpage also show) that these findings " are in line with those reported in the literature and confirm that gastric resection for duodenal ulcer. " That is why none of the other doctors believe Rutledge's statistics of having " less than 1% complications. " Rutledge is not doing the Billroth II procedure any differently. What he IS doing differently is that Rutledge has no way to do patient followup on medical conditions. He sends out some haphazard emails that patients may or may not get and may or may not answer but in the case of these sorts of medical complications, the patients may not know they have the problems until after severe damage has already been done over several years time. WHAT DOES THE STUDY MEAN TO YOU, THE MGB SURVIVOR??? Apply those statistics to all of us who have had the MGB (not including dying from cancer later). He has done 900 patients. That means that at least 186 of us can expect severe complications and at least 14 of us will be dead within 15 years. Most of the people who have this surgery are young. The oldest any of us are is 55. He's done surgery on people as young as 14. What if they are one of the people who gets that 15 year death sentence? The complications include gastritis, esophagitis and ulcers (all of which can require serious surgery and treatment and can lead to death, but death from those surgeries would not be counted in this study). These are all exactly consistent with the studies I put up on my webpage. http://www.fourlane.com/mgb -- Kind regards, http://www.fourlane.com/lindat lindat @ mindspring.com (no spaces) --------------------------------------------- ROBERT R. Guest guest
As a registered nurse, I know for a fact that these statistics are just about the same if you are severely obese. But, I wonder to myself...186 out of how many?...14 dead out of how many? I must admit attorneys go to school for a very long time to get a doctorate degree in twisting the truth, but we are not stupid, we know you cannot just pull figures out of the air with another figure to compare it against. 186 OUT OF HOW MANY???? 14 OUT OF HOW MANY???????? I really want to know. Regina in Charlotte
