Guest guest
Natalia( & others of course) MRSA as I read is some kind of highly infectious staph that is easily transmittable in hospitals. These were the people being quarantined w/ the pink signs.Did yahoo search on mrsa and found it.Can I take my son out of the hospital, will I get in trouble?I called my mom and told her not to let my son out of his room til i get there in am.I simply dont trust dr.s, or nurses, or anyone else for that matter(in the medical field)The kids are just another #, i understand how it becomes that way, but just the same its my sons LIFE ive put in their hands.I'm beside myself Patty
Guest guest
Yes, he's there for his 1st tuneup.I'm always so afraid of being a pain in the medical peoples rumps, but i dont care.I have had to follow behind them asking them to wash their hands, 2nite i had to ask the nurse to have enviromental wash the sink, its like having more children. They dont understand the risk their taking w/peoples lives. Guest guest
My daughter is a lab tech. She should be home in 30 minutes. I will call and ask her about this and respond to you. Guest guest
We dealt with something similar in Toronto -SARS. It was a nightmare for me to get admitted. I had to go in this summer/spring, and it was madness since CF symptoms are exactly like SARS. It was crazy, and very unpleasant for me in this city. People were running away from me on the subway ever time I coughed. Anyhow, I say get your kid out f you can. Can you have home-care? I'm sorry I don't know why son is there. If for a tune-up then yeah. Otherwise it might not be possible. I don't trust doctors and nurses either. I get my meds from them. But otherwise I am cautious. Guest guest
Does the person with MRSA have a different nurse than Tyler? I thought that hospitals did that to reduce cross contamination. Guest guest
The nurse that comes to see me every morning never, and I mean NEVER washes his hands. As he inserts a new IV every couple of days. i have to remind him every day. I understand what you're saying. I don't know why people see no need to prevent more disease. It's strange, but I ask him several time, along with 'can you help me clean up the needles and such from the kitchen'. I never say it, but I think it: Is that not your JOB?? It's frustrating. > > > Yes, he's there for his 1st tuneup.I'm always so afraid of being a > pain in the medical peoples rumps, but i dont care.I have had to > follow behind them asking them to wash their hands, 2nite i had to > ask the nurse to have enviromental wash the sink, its like having > more children. They dont understand the risk their taking w/peoples > lives. > Patty > > > > > > > Natalia( & others of course) > > > MRSA as I read is some kind of highly infectious staph that is > > > easily transmittable in hospitals. These were the people being > > > quarantined w/ the pink signs.Did yahoo search on mrsa and found > > > it.Can I take my son out of the hospital, will I get in trouble?I > > > called my mom and told her not to let my son out of his room til > i > > > get there in am.I simply dont trust dr.s, or nurses, or anyone > else > > > for that matter(in the medical field)The kids are just another > #, i > > > understand how it becomes that way, but just the same its my sons > > > LIFE ive put in their hands.I'm beside myself > > > > > > Patty > > > > > > > > <image.tiff> > > > > > > > > > ------------------------------------------- > > > The opinions and information exchanged on this list should IN NO > WAY > > > be construed as medical advice. > > > > > > PLEASE CONSULT YOUR PHYSICIAN BEFORE CHANGING ANY MEDICATIONS OR > > > TREATMENTS. > > > > > > ------------------------------------ > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
as a nurse I can say that any medical staff that enter an environment likr MRSA are supposed to gown and glove and mask and dispose of these items and wash hands thouroghly when leaving the room and there should be a seperate stethoscope, b/p cuff and thermometer in each isolation room which will be disinfected when the pt is discharged. Now that does not mean that this happens but that is what is supposed to so I would watch the nurses who enter the MRSA rooms and see idf they take the proper precautions Maureen danieleverettharris wrote: Does the person with MRSA have a different nurse than Tyler? Guest guest
Don't be afraid of being a pain! That's your job. We've got to stand up for our kids and make sure they get what they need. You're doing a great job of it, it sounds like. Guest guest
My boyfriend is an RN (and charge nurse too) at a children's hospital in Oregon. From what he has told me I think the mask & glove procedure when dealing with kids with contagious bugs is pretty standard. Right now they have 7 CF kids inpatient on the floor where he works! 'Tis the season! Guest guest
I am in Vancouver, B.C. Canada and my husband is a nurse here. He says at his hospital if any one has MRSA they are put in isolation. Also universal precautions ie. hand washing, are always to be practiced.
