Guest guest
Bob E. Sorry to hear that you are having a time of it. I know those sleepless nights. You need to take something for the pain! No need to be a hero! I am the same way when it comes to pain meds....but when you hurt you need to do something for it! There was a study done that people who have real pain or chronic pain do not become addicted to pain meds. Please take something so you don't hurt so bad! Now for the hurting around the ear or feeling like it is emanating from the ear. This is only my opinion remember! When your ear is inflamed it is like your body is fighting an infection. Your lymph's may become involved. Lymph's are where the body send things to fight off infection. When I had an infection in my upper jaw my lymph's became involved because that is where my body sent the infection. Maybe this is why you are having discomfort in the area below the ear. There are lymph's there. I will be sending good thoughts and prayers that you will get to feeling better soon and be able to sleep again SOON! Lots of love Glenda
Guest guest
Thanks, Glenda, I know now that you explained it the it is is the lymphs that are getting involved. It is the same ones that hurt when you have the Mumps. You know the fear that this stuff causes. I was thinking the worse. Like Maybe it was a huge tumor or something. I've heard that about pain meds but I can't prove it if I don't have any to take. Doc didn't give me any cause he was afraid I might get addicted. I am seeing the the head Reumy at U of KY Wed. Maybe he will be more compassionate. Thanks for the help. I feel bad about complaining when I read about the problems others have. Guest guest
Never ever feel bad about complaining! We all have our own roads to travel with this cRaP! Each of us reach the breaking point at different levels. We have all started out not knowing what is going to happen and how we are going to get from point A to point B. That is why this group is so great we are here for each other. Yes the whole person not just the sick one. Take care and I will be think of you on Wed. when you go to the head Rheumy for the visist. I will hope he is much more compassionate than the other one. Gish pain is just the worst when it comes to this darn cRaP! Guest guest
Glenda, Thanks for the comforting reply but when I read Sharon's post I felt bad. It is 3:30 AM and I can't sleep. It hurts worse if I lie down so I tried sleeping sitting up but that hasn't worked tonight. I'll let ya'll know what Rheumy has to say. Guest guest
Bob, have you been to the dr yet? Gosh I hate to see you suffer so. I really think you need more aggressive treatment. but that's just my opinion. You shouldn't be up half the night in pain. Please beg them to do something or get a new dr. Be sure to let us know what is happening with you.
Guest guest
Hi Bob, I do hope you start to feel better. It does sound like you have RP but I hope you don't. Let's hope that with this new med you will get some relief. What do you mean by Pseudo? My thoughts and Prayers are with you. Sharon
Guest guest
I saw Dr Lightfoot at UK Rheumatology. He wants me to try Dapsone,100mg. He says if it is RP it probably won't help but if it is one of the Pseudo conditions that are similiar it might help and he didn;t think it would hurt in any case. My ear had cooled a lot by the time I saw him on Wed. It was better yesterday and even better today. Now it is just sore to touch and not hurting al all. Just itching a little. My heart goes out to those who are suffering and I pray for them. Guest guest
Bob E. Glad to hear that the Dr. has put you on something. Some of the other people on the group have used Dapsone so lets hope it will work for you. Dr. still wont say that you have RP? Glad to hear that the ear has decided to quiet down. I think I would rather have a rib flare any day compared to an ear flare. I bet you have been getting some much needed rest. Take care and sending good thoughts and prayers that the dapsone works! Guest guest
Sharon, Thank you. Pseudo is a word DR Lightfoot used to refer to conditions with similiar symtoms to RP.
