Guest guest
Natalia, This does not sound good! You should call your clinic right away (before your next dose of Zithromax.) You may be having an allergic reaction to the medicine. My five year old son with cf takes Zithromax three times a week as a maintanence/prophylactic drug. He has had no problems with it, but has had bad reactions to other meds before (Cipro gave him headaches so bad he curled up into a ball for hours, chest pains also.) Please contact your cf clinic right away. ~ > Are any of your kids on Zithromax? Guest guest
- I am planning on calling him in the morning. It may be an allergic reaction. I have not had this bad a cough in my life. It's awful. Thanks for writing in with that information. Natalia On Wednesday, December 17, 2003, at 11:48 PM, ma8169@... wrote: > Natalia, > > This does not sound good! Guest guest
Hi: This " elderly kid " is on Zithromax and I have been using it as a prophylactic antibiotic for about a year. I take it three times a week. The number of my more serious infections has declined since this regimen. As far as I know, most doctors at the Yale clinic use it as it has been found to decrease inflammation of the lungs in CF patients. Please discuss your concerns with your CF doctor if you think you are having an allergic reaction. I believe the " warning " could be a misunderstanding about CF and Zithromax, and you can contact the manufacturer (check on the net) about it. Hal Question for everyone... Are any of your kids on Zithromax? I started it a couple of days ago, and I am having severe problems breathing. And I was getting better after 3 weeks on IV. I am still on IV for another week, and am feeling worse then ever. I cannot cough up anything, and have this dry, cough, almost a whistle. i've never had it before, and it hurts. So I went on the net and read about it, and it's NOT recommended for people with CF!! So I am confused why my doctor would give that to me. So I am going to call him tomorrow, but I am confused. I feel like I am going to split something in my throat or pop a lung when I cough. i always had a very active cough, so that I could get rid of the stuff easily. This is frustrating and painful. Any ideas out there? Natalia ------------------------------------------- The opinions and information exchanged on this list should IN NO WAY be construed as medical advice. I had same experience with (13) on Zith - it worked great- Cipro - pains! Rosemary in NY with 3 children (13, 11 and 7) with CF. I have a dog named TOBI and have coined the phrase " BREATHE DAMMIT "
