Guest guest
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, Kristy! Love to you, Barbara! n Rojas Home from Hospital Kristy was discharged from hospital late on Monday and we arrived home yesterday. I have called this admission " short line hell " poor Kristy had 5 lines in 5 days Never again without a PICC line! Still there was nothing in the past to indicate these kind of probs would occur. Her sinus surgery went very well and the surgeon was pleased he didn't have to do as much as expected. He said there had been a big improvement since the CT scans! The only thing we'd been doing different (after consultation with Kristy's CF specialist) was use her pulmozyme through a mask instead of a mouthpiece, so we have been encouraged to continue using a mask in the future. I asked about using a mask to assist sinus problems after reading other parents comments on this list...so thanks so much to all who posted about that, in Kristy's case there is definite proof of improvement! Kristy did have a bad reaction to an anti nausea drug given with her anesthetic (it had the oppostite effect) so things were extremely grotty for a few hours after surgery (I've seen enough blood now I don't need to see anymore - YUK) until Dr arrived to check on her and saved the day...well in my opinion he did! I'm sorry I'm rather slow in catching up on all the missed digests but I'm sorry to hear about Eilish's Staph...I'm glad we're home now, the boy next to Kristy was being treated for Staph but the doctor assured me Kristy was not at risk? All in all I'm sure there's less risk of infection here than staying in hospital any longer. Kristy's homecoming has been very special, the hospital forwarded cards from GrandmomBev and Gale, she found out she achieved an Honours score for her recent Tap Exam and also received a Bronze Medal for her Tap category. I've uploaded a pic of Kristy in costume for the recent dance concert if you'd like to look it's here: http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid92/p3589b1c8f47ab16e4a3a5707 e6ef73b9/fa59a8f4.jpg Barbara Mum to Nicky 16 wocf and Kristy 13 wcf and very relieved to be home! ------------------------------------------- The opinions and information exchanged on this list should IN NO WAY be construed as medical advice. Guest guest
Barbara, I'm glad that Kristy is home. Her hospital stay sounds terrible. I looked at her picture. She is a really pretty young lady. She looks older than I expected. I want Abby to take Tap Dancing lessons. I think that would help keep her lungs clean. I hope that your holidays are great! Guest guest
What a great picture. My is also a dancer and I believe that this helps to keep them more healthy. 's favorite is jazz, but her expertise was in tap and point. Hope Kristy is feeling much better soon.
