Guest guest
When we were doing fosterparent training one of the courses was on kids who had been hospitalized. They said that studies have shown that really small kids usually come home from the hospital with something that is akin to post traumatic stress disorder. They talked of therapy/counseling for the children etc. Years later when Patti was diagnosed with cf and admitted at two months old, I stayed with her every minute. I made sure I snuggled her and treated her as normal as I could with all her weirdly located IV tubes. We didn't get back the same snuggly baby we admitted. She wasn't allowed to suck her thumb due to her arms having to be boarded for her IVs and she always refused a pacifier. To a baby, that's traumatic. We have had to work extra hard to snuggle and cuddle with her as she has gotten older, and the longer we've gone with out a hospitalization (thank God) the better she has gotten. I wish you all the best with your sone. Dawn mom of 4, 8 and under, the youngest wcf
Guest guest
I would definitely understand mood swings at puberty, but is only four. >From: gdattig5@... >Reply-To: cfparents >To: cfparents >Subject: Re: Just chatting >Date: Mon, 22 Dec 2003 23:53:18 EST > >In a message dated 12/22/2003 5:28:18 PM Central Standard Time, >sjcpd33@... writes: >And one more question, do any of your kids with cf tend toi have >behavior problmes after being hospitalized or had a procedure done? >We noticed that every time has something done his attitude >and the way he acts just changes for the worse and it isn't getting >any better.
