Guest guest
I have some questions about the diet. If I have an illegal food (ok, my ds made a crumb cake and I didn't make something comparable that I could have and I cracked) after I've done the intro diet, do I need to go back and do the intro again? It was a few days ago that I slipped up. I seem to be tolerating stage 2 and 3 foods just fine (I'm trying to satisfy my needs along with my husband who has no desire to be on my diet and children who don't need to be and my symptoms had already been under control for quite awhile due to meds which I no longer have access to because of insurance issues). I got ahold of some stage 4 foods last night (never read the stages before but I did tonight) which were tomato and navy beans, and after I ate for several hours I felt ill... not like flair up ill, but like I'm coming down with the flu ill complete with the cold sweats and goosebumps (stools are fine though)?? I was fine by morning. I made some chicken tonight fried in almond flour and had a bit of the same reaction but not nearly as bad as last night and gassy . I'm sure I need to slow down a bit... but like I said it's getting hard to satisfy everyone's food needs around here. I'm waiting on my probiotic yogurt starter to get here... progihealth is apparently having a lot of orders for their starter. That's one of the things I've been missing for the last week or so (a probiotic). What really odd is that my 2 1/2 mo old's reoccurring yeast problems cleared up on their own last week... so I don't think we're having candida troubles anymore. I don't think my tummy troubles are related to that. Christa

Some may do it just to clear out the illegals even if they have no obvious symptoms. > I seem to be tolerating stage 2 and 3 foods just fine (I'm trying to > satisfy my needs along with my husband who has no desire to be on my > diet and children who don't need to be and my symptoms had already > been under control for quite awhile due to meds which I no longer have > access to because of insurance issues). You may have been fine with these foods if you hadn't of had the illegal crumb cake. If you have illegals especially early in the diet some of the harmful microbes that haven't been starved out yet may say " Yippee " and start reproducing. If you continue to have symptoms you can either go with easier to digest foods or go back to the intro and then gradually readd. If your symptoms remain to be un- severe you may just want to stick with the easier to digest foods at least until your Yogurt starter arrives. Please read the yogurt section and the sections on die off at pecanbread.com. You may have some die off when starting the yogurt. I really flaired up today and I don't know why... only thing new/different is grape juice (watered down at that). I also had trouble with pineapple a couple days ago (I didn't think to cook it). I tried regular cow's milk yogurt. I don't think I'm going to be able to tolerate it and so I made some yogurt cheese with it. That seemed to be ok (I make the BTVC cheesecake) so I'm wondering if it was the whey that set me off... i don't know. I'm going to have to either buy a probiotic (probably Kirkmans since I need multivitamins for the kids and they like their capsules) or make nut milk yogurt as I don't have access to affordable goat's milk at this time. I'm curious to what the nut milk yogurt is like? Anyone want to share? My baby also has thrush (again) so I want to make sure I have a probiotic to use. I still haven't chased down any dccc and don't think I'm going to be able to in this area . I was hoping I could use the yogurt cheese as a replacement but I think I'll just avoid it until I find goat's milk somewhere. I'm also going to start a food journal and see if that helps... two steps forward... one step back.... I hope I start getting this right eventually. Christa colitis/proctitis under control with meds since last year off meds for 2 mos wheat/sugar free for 2 1/2 mos scd for 3 weeks

I also had trouble with pineapple a couple days ago (I > didn't think to cook it). Most likely the raw pineapple is your culprit. > I tried regular cow's milk yogurt. Before stopping the 24 cow milk yogurt please consider the scenarios below: 3 possible reasons: 1.If you reacted to SCD 24 hour cow's milk you may be experiencing die off. Especially if you started with more than 1/8 tsp of yogurt 2. If dripping the cheese allowed you to eat it (uncoooked) then it may have been the lactic acid and galactose in the undripped stuff. Some people can't tolerate these. 3. If you did tolerate it when made into yogurt cheese and cooked it was most likely massive die off that you experienced. > I'm going to have to either buy > a probiotic (probably Kirkmans since I need multivitamins for the kids > > I'm also going to start a food journal and see if that helps... two > steps forward... one step back.... Going back to the intro to clear out the crumb cake and raw pineapple (ie. illegals and foods you are 't ready for) is a good idea especially since you are flaring up now. The food journal and slowly introducing foods after the intro are the best tools to determine what you are able to tolerate and what you aren't.
