That is great to hear!!! That is what is needed here.. more doctors speaking

our FOR the MGB.... not people talking bad about or anyone else for

that matter. Weren't there any doctors that spoke out FOR Dr. R after the

big conferance I heard about??

Was this necessary to bring to the list. What are you trying to prove? That

you can tell off? This did not need to be forwarded to this list.

Somehow I know my response will not get through. But it is ok. I am not one

of 's militia's either, however, it is not necessary to call her names

to tell her not to write to you. Have you all lost so much judgement that

name calling is the only way to talk to one another. has a different

opinion. Unlike the people here on this list. I for one don't agree with

her however, I will not stoop to the level of name calling and bashing her

because her opinion differs from mine. A nice " thank you, but I have made my

own decision " would have sufficed. Or is that too mature?

Jai,

I am sorry, I am not that mature. I think someone going on this wonderful

support e-group with nothing but a disturbing one sided view of what she feels

is true, is harmful !!

I don't know anything about this person, except her name is T. did she

have surgery, did she have complications, someone that she knew die from this

surgery? To me she is being mean, and

yes, I must be imature because I like to laugh at her and bring her down a few

pegs for scareing a bunch of already vounerable people.

Just how I feel, Jai. You have a right to your opinion also, and good luck on

your surgery!

Hi. I just want to say that you can go to the search tool from

egroups and search under a person's name such as or , or

even a subject. It really saves time when looking back through the

archives. It took me a while to figure this out, so maybe this

information will help someone else. Also, I want to say that I

consulted with two other surgeon's before having my MGB, and when I

asked about deaths from the surgery, the open RNY Dr. told me that he

had lost three patients, and the lap RNY doctor told me that he had

lost patients, but would not disclose how many he had lost. That sort

of information should be a matter of public record, but when I talked

with the man over the Georgia medical board, he said that deaths are

not reflected in " board disipline " taken in his State. I'm not sure

how you could go about finding out about the number of deaths a

surgeon has had. Maybe someone else can comment on that.

Hi. I've been on the list for over a year, and I knew of 's

death from reading it on the list. Also, Dr. R. lists one death on

his web page statistics. I agree that you should not let a doctor do

surgery on you if he will not disclose such things, but I still would

like to know how to find out from someone other than the surgeon

himself how many deaths or malpractice problems they have had in the

past. After spending a year researching before my MGB, I think back

to the other surgeries that I have undergone(gallbladder, etc.)and

wonder why I never thought to check out those surgeons. I did have

one botched knee surgery and can tell you that there is a HUGE

difference in the care that you get from doctor to doctor and from

hospital to hospital. I researched the MGB before having it and was

not at all nervous before going into surgery. My surgery went really

well, and I have had no complications. My weight is just falling off

and I feel better than I have in years. I don't regret my decision at

all, and feel that this is the best thing that I have ever done for

myself as far as my health is concerned. The RNY is also a good

surgery in my opinion, and would have been my second choice, but

there is a HUGE difference in the surgeon's performing the RNY as

well as there being many different ways to perform the RNY(amount

bypassed, size of the pouch, type of incision, etc). Be sure that you

know the skill of your surgeon before undergoing any type of

proceedure.
