Guest guest
I'm sorry, Nyomi.... but, yes.... if you are following SCD, sweet potatoes are illegal. SCD is not a diet that you can follow by 90% and expect the full gut healing benefits..... it requires 100% strict compliance. Patti scd hi my sons been on the diet for one week i will say that he is 90% SCD BEFORE STARTING THE DIET HE HAD BLOOD GROUP TESTING,I SWITHCHED HIS DIET WHICH IS COMPATBLE WITH HIS BLOOD GROUP,BUT WAS UN AWARE THAT BY SWITCHING HIS DAILY INTAKE OF ROAST POTATOES TO SWEET POTATOES IS FEEDING HIS BODY WITH CARBAHYDRATES,ALTHOUGH JUST 7 DAYS HAS PASSED BY WITH DRAWING ALL OTHER STARCHES I HAVE SEEN IMPROVEMENTS,DOES THIS SWEET POTATOES HAVE TO BE REMOVED TOO? HE HAS BEEN GLUTEN FREE AND DAIRY FREE FOR 7 YEARS AND HAVE ONLY BY CHANCE COME ACROSS THIS WEB SITE AND READ THE BOOK BREAKING THE VICIOUS CIRCLE DO THE CHILDREN HAVE TO 100% SCD ANY FEED BACK PLEASE THANKS . NYOMI..................
Guest guest
Yes, the sweet potatos need to be removed as well. You need to make sure that you are following scd very carefully...not only with the allowed foods, but by introducing foods in the proper form in the appropriate order i.e. pealed, seeded, and well cooked first. Guest guest
Nyomi, You wrote: <<allother carbs were avoided proir to this>> Do you mean that all other GRAINS were avoided? <<do you have to do the scd in the order it says introducing veg then fruits,>> I am not sure where you got the impression that this was the way to do SCD. To do the diet correctly, everyone *should* begin with the " intro diet " , described in the chapter titled " Introducing the Diet " , in Breaking the Vicious Cycle (BTVC). Intro is done for just a couple of days, to really " clear the decks " and prepare the body for the new foods. Immediately after the suggested menu for those few days of the intro diet, Elaine Gottschall has written: " When diarrhea and cramping subside, cooked fruit, banana, and additional vegetables may be tried. " So, as you can see, she does not suggest starting with only vegetables... and then progressing to fruits. A variety of cooked fruits and vegetables are allowed right after intro. Ripe banana does not have to be cooked. If the individual does not have diarrhead and/or cramping to start with (some people have chronic constipation, or other GI symptoms), they should still do a couple of days of intro to get off to a good start. <<can the scd diet work like this as it mentions day introduce cottage cheese my son has been dairy free for years >> I'm not exactly sure what you're asking..... but, you don't *have* to use dairy if your child was dairy free. In that case, we list quite a lot of ideas for doing the diet dairy free on the website: www.pecanbread.com There are details there about doing the intro diet, too.... for children with ASD. Many families here wait a few weeks or longer.... then add in SCD goat yogurt, for the healing benefits it has to offer. Other stay dairy free and simply use acidophilus supplements to repopulate the gut with good flora. You will likely see a number of negative symptoms at first. It's the bad bacteria being starved iof the deluxe type of carbs they thrive on. Like they say in " The Sound of Music, " -- " begin at the very beginning, it's a very good thing to do. " Carol F. SCD 6 years
Guest guest
I found Mussleman's make an apple cider with ingredients: apples. It looks like cider - has all the stuff on the bottom. I found it at Wal-Mart - it was a fairly big jug (maybe a gallon?) I haven't called the company. Has anyone looked into this? Kim

It is more sour and cloudy than conventional apple juice, retaining the tart flavor of the apple pulp which is lost in conventional fruit juice production. Is the only ingredient " apples. " Is it in the refrigerated section oif the store? It appears that Musselmans was bought by another company, Knouse here is a link to a contact form so ytou can get more details http://www.knouse.com/ContactUs.aspx Carol F. Guest guest
This is only the legal kind if it is in the fresh, refridgerated section of the grocery store..... fresh pressed, heated only to pasteurize, and capped. It would have a short shelf-life, too. MUCH safer to invest in a cheap home juicer (mine was $24 on a clearance shelf) and put the apple chunks down the chute and get fresh, delicious juice you KNOW if safe.
