Guest guest
Sue I get them alot... and about 9 out of 10 times they used to get infected. But recently I have found a new wipe, kind of like the alcolhol wipes. but these are called "povoiodine-betadine" wipes and they work wonders. They will turn your skin in that area a nice yellow, but it does wipe or defeat any infections before they start. And let me tell you it is wonderful not to feel that tender pain. Hope this helps a little. Take care and let me know if you try it and how it works. Barbara aka bj Sue M. Hi Sue,I have a terrible problem with cuts and bumps. They just won't heal upand some last forever. Have places on my legs that have scars fromprevious bouts of vasculitis. A year ago!! When ever I get a scratch, often these days from the kittens, I clean it good, then use peroxide(diluted with water) or an alcohol swab, and then polysporin and abandage. I wish there was something that would make my skin heal likeit did 20 years ago. The skin on my hands has gotten real thin (oldage??NEVER), LOL, so that seems to be the worst place for cuts to heal. The slightest bump and it tears.Hope you get over that sinus infection soon. My sister battled one forwell over a year before she finally got rid of it. Take care. Love, marilynDoes anybody have problem with every little cut or abrasion getting infected. Just curious because I havethat problem. I think my body is one big infection. I'll stop whining now...Love ya, Sue MDISCLAIMER!!WE ARE NOT MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS, THEREFORE ANY INFORMATION THAT IS RECEIVED HERE IS FROM EXPERIENCE ONLY. Guest guest
DEar Marilyn, That makes sense about the thinning skin. It seems every little bump my skin opens up and I bleed. Of course maybe the coordination may be off a bit too. Hey, if it ain't one darn thing its another. I definitely won't be wearing any shorts either this summer as the legs look so bad. Need to go shopping for long skirts. Glad to hear you have kittens. Notice I said have, not had, kittens. Take good care of you...Love, Sue M
Guest guest
Hi Barbara, I will get them and try it. Better to stop the infection before it starts then dealing with it later. Thanks, Sue M
Guest guest
Dear Marilyn, are you going to be one of those cat people that end up with 200 in a small apartment? Guest guest
Marilyn and Sue, My dr told me that age brings on thin skin and the pred makes it worse. So we are in great shape. LOL Skin just kind of tears like paper. My sister and mother had skin like this and they were never on pred. hugs Clauida
Guest guest
Hi Sue, Somebody said it was the pred that made the skin so thin, mine has been that way before the pred though. I do think some of it is from aging. Yes, I still HAVE the kittens. Boy, they are a lot of work. We now have 4 cats in this place. I couldn't just walk off and leave them laying there. They are soooo cute, and SO much work. Take care. I always enjoy your messages. Love, marilyn DEar Marilyn, That makes sense about the thinning skin. Guest guest
Sue M, Hi. You should dee my legs (knees down), and arms (elbow down)I am 1 BIG scar. Years before my DX with RP I got severe sores that took forever to heal and left plauq like scars with lost in pigment (very ugly if I get sun now). I battled those sores even as a child, it was not until I had the DX of RP (and meds) did the sores stop. > Hi Sue, > > I have a terrible problem with cuts and bumps. Dear Sue, So, where did the energy go? Did the meds take it? Or did the RP take it? There's so much I WANT to do, but just do not feel like doing it. I talk to my Rheumy about this and all she says is "You just need to realize that you're probably going to have to take a nap everyday for the rest of your life." Well! THAT'S not what I want to hear! Oh well, I'll quit complaining for awhile. It helps to know I'm not alone. Love,
Guest guest
Dear , I don't know where the energy went...it just disappeared. Usually on Pred I have more energy. Am on 20 mgs now. I did have a pretty good weekend. Hubby and I went grocery shopping on Saturday then yesterday I scrubbed my kitchen floor and hallway. Also did laundry. So I enjoy it when I have it. Still can't get rid of the muceous in my throat which sure brings me down a bit. Just damn annoying. Was on an antibiotic but didn't seem to work. If its not one thing its another. Talk to you soon, Love, Sue M
