Guest guest
My son is 10 months old and has about 3 weeks left in his DOC band. Cranial Tech. is recommending a second band, however our insurance won't cover anything so the $3600 price tag is a major issue. We took pictures last week to see the difference from when he started treatment in March and the results are amazing! Our therapist advised that as of right now he has about 10mm of asymmetry so he's on the border of whether or not he needs another one. We had a consultation with our pediatrician who thinks that in the next 3 weeks that number will lessen and that unless we really feel the need to he doesn't think it's necessary knowing the financial aspect of things. I guess my question to everyone is, has anyone decided not to proceed with a second band and are you happy with your decision? Any regrets? Thanks. Guest guest
We went on to get the 2nd helmet for our son but he was removed from the helmet by his neurologist within 5 days of getting it. My husband was happy to see it go but I was not. We are in a situation though where he can not be in 1 until it is determined if the water on his brain will expand with out it. They seem to think that the band was with holding the pressure and we are waiting to see what happens. I would of carried out number 2 though. Just for his sake. He isnt perfect and his facial features are off but we look at it like that him and none of my kids are perfect. But if I am given the chance at the end of this since he is only 8.5 months old I will do it again. The choice is yours though. No one is perfect. And if you choose not to go with the 2nd one I would say dont regret it. You already made a major difference for your child. Whatever decision you make, You will make the right 1 for your child. It seems though as if you are happy with the results and if I was I would not opt for number 2. , mom to Justice 8.5 months- removed from 2nd starband From: mavsmom2004 <mavsmom2004@...>Subject: Anyone decide against a second band???Plagiocephaly Date: Monday, June 15, 2009, 2:11 PM My son is 10 months old and has about 3 weeks left in his DOC band.
