Hi,

I have not posted in a while, have a hard time fighting for computer time with

my 3 kids....

All 3 of my children seem to be getting a the start of a sinus infection. No

coughing, but very thick green nasal discharge. They have just recently gotton

off an antibiotic and don't want to have to start them again so soon. Does

anyone have any advice on how to try to get rid of a sinus infection???

Thanks for any advice.

We had the same problem with our 4 year old daughter. we finally had surgery on

her sinuses done and so far it has worked out good. that was 3 months ago. she

had to stay all night but otherwise everything went well. She took a steroid and

antibiotic for 14 days after the surgery and so far so good. i hope everything

works out for you.

How would you find out, I see my doc tomorrow and will mention it to him, Thanks for the suggestion,  I am so behind in my emails, it's crazy. MarlaJust one day at a time, That's all God ask of us. for there never really is a tomorrow, as that too

is just today:)

Marla, have your docs considered the possibility of fungal infection in your sinuses?  That's a common cause of recurrent sinusitis, which is just worsened by repeated courses of antibiotics.

OH ya we run a humidifier in our room all winter, My husband started to get sinus infections when we moved to CO, and a doctor said to put the humidifier in the room, and he hasn't had one in a very long time, I still get them all the time, half my sinus cavities are full of Sarc. but it still helps the nose.

Thanks, Rose.....i just paint canvas nowadays.   i can't lift rocks any more....lol.   But i haven't painted one canvas yet this year.  On Sunday hubby cooked the turkey carcass, with what meat was left on it, and made homemade turkey soup.   It wasn't as good as mine...lol...but it'll pass.  I am fighting a nasal infection right now probably brought on by the dryer air.   So we got the humidifiers going and it seems to be easing up.  add in the saline nasal spray, the script nasal spray and the air cleaners and i'll be up to my 'normal' by the end of the day. (cross your fingers and say a prayer)   i'm sure this benefits everyone in the family(the humidifiers)...even the cats.....but i guess i notice it the most.  ;)   S.

Marla, here is a link to a website by doctors devoted to sinus problems. Although the reference to Mayo is from 1999, this website is more current, with a recent update. As you can see, it's not a simple thing to treat. Also, cultures need to be taken from the sinuses, not just nasal. I have no idea how difficult or uncomfortable that might be.

Here is another site:

I just typed "fungal sinusitis" in my browser & gots lots of responses; most seem like credible sites. I hope you have time to check these out before your appt. If you are pressed for time, read the second one--it's shorter & simpler. Good luck!
