Any suggestions? >> Have you tried peeled & cooked zucchini and cucumber? Those two veggies may be gentle choices for you to try next. What about some cooked fruits: homemade applesauce/pearsauce or ripe bananas? I notice you don't list fruits have you tried any of them? How have your bowel symptoms been since starting the diet? ANy improvements? Have you considered trying the yogurt? Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 22yrs mom of and
Guest guest
Thank you so much for responding. I have had a near miraculous improvement in bowels since day one. For that I am quite lucky. So I know this diet is working for me, and I can relatively easily tell foods aren't being tolerated. Over the past two weeks, however, I have had a cottage cheese-like white chunks coating my bowels(yeast?). I will try zuccini. I haven't done well with any sweet things (even fruit or too much carrots) because of the thrush/yeast. Although, maybe I'll try again. I don't do well with dairy to the point of not being able to breath well, so yogurt is not an option at this time. Thank you for the help from the bottom of my heart, > > Welcome to the group , > > > Have you tried peeled & cooked zucchini and cucumber? Guest guest
Hi , << I have had a near miraculous improvement in bowels since day one. > For that I am quite lucky. Both yeast and mucous will be white stuff in the stool. Getting rid of yeast can *cause* mucous production as the yeast metabolites pass through the bowels. << I will try zuccini. I haven't done well with any sweet things (even > fruit or too much carrots) because of the thrush/yeast. >> Have you read " Yeast and SCD " at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/pecanbread/files/ There is some info there that may be helpful. << I don't do well with dairy to the point of not being able to breath well, so yogurt is not an option at this time.>> Mmmm... breathing is pretty important Do you know if it is a cow milk allergy, casein or lactose allergy? You may want to consider trying the nut yogurt or the juice from some home fermented foods. The good bacteria in these will help battle yeast overgrowth. If you are interested and have questions we can help you get started on these. Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 22yrs mom of and
Guest guest
This sounds like a good plan. I did try fermenting beet juice in the beginning simply with salt (before realizing that sort of 'wild fermentation' was advanced). Do you know if using the progurt as a starter prevent the less desirable bugs from forming? I'm not sure what kind of dairy sensitivity I have as I reacted to ghee as well. Have you seen or heard of people getting so stuck with a couple of foods before? Thank you once again for the encouragement, > Hi , > It is great to hear that you are doing so well. > It may be yeast or it may be mucous, or a combination of both. Guest guest
Hi , << This sounds like a good plan. Do you know if using the progurt as a > starter prevent the less desirable bugs from forming? >> Yes, you can use a legal yogurt starter to culture/ferment vegetables. << I'm not sure what kind of dairy sensitivity I have as I reacted to > ghee as well. >> I ask because although regular butter is allowed I need to use organic butter as I react to the hormones in regular butter (the hormones given to the cows) This is not an issue for most SCDers I just have more than bowel disease to content with. Apparantly not all ghee is created equally. If you purchase it there still could be residual casein - it depends on the company making it. I plan to make my own ghee - just haven't gotten around to it yet. I did make cultured organic butter tha I can tolerate quite well. << Have you seen or heard of people getting so stuck with a couple of foods before? >> Yes, unfortunately. But at the beginning the body is laying down a foundation to get things healing. If you can be patinet and allow a little healing to take place you should be able to add more foods in soon. Guest guest
Sheila, I'd be interested in knowing how to make my own organic, cultured butter.
