Do you have the book.... BTVC? It outlines the intro diet.

Mimi posted that Dr. Haas allowed ripe bananas on his original intro diet, even

though Elaine does not list them in her book.

Yes, the SCD cheesecake is allowed on intro, per BTVC.

Intro diet clarification

Anyway, I wanted to get something cleared up with the intro. The pecan bread

site says that the intro foods are eggs, meats, broth, carrots, and diluted

grape juice. I was thinking that I've also read on this list that the scd

cheesecake is allowed on intro which would mean that dccc is an intro food.

Also, Mimi recently posted that Elaine allowed bananas on intro. Can anyone give

me a more clear answer on exactly what is allowed on intro? I'd like to do it

tomorrow. Thanks.

I have the book. I am just a little confused because the book does allow

some foods that are not listed on pecan bread. I wasn't sure if someone is

doing scd for asd if they are to eliminate those foods that are in BTVC but

not pecan bread for some reason, or if it just was left off of the site for

some reason.

Meleah,

I am assuming you are referring to The Stages. Neither BTVC nor The Stages can

include

every variation of every legal food. Space just doesn't permit and Elaine wanted

to keep

the book clear and simple.

The Stages is a loose guideline based on parent's reports of foods they found

most easily

digested. So lots of things aren't there that are OK to try...like:

Bananas

Butter

Coconut

There are more foods listed on Elaine's website

Which is why The Stages is not official SCD protocol but is a Pecanbread

" helping hand. "

It's handy for a person who hasn't a clue as to how to build after the intro

diet when Elaine

just said to add new foods gradually in small amounts and log the effects.

The Stages is handy to explain why certain new foods may not be digested as well

as

others. It's there to help with composing the bare bones of a shopping list and

as a basis

for trying some recipes.

I never followed The Stages because I would feel too limited and it's for

CHILDREN.

Tolerance will always be shaped by the fact that each person is different, as

are their food

preferences and degree of tolerance.

It would be fascinating to follow identical autistic twins using the diet.

> I think dairy is the main thing that is different from the ASD intro and the

intro in the

book. If an individual tolerates dairy already, there is no reason to pull out

DCCC if you're

re-doing intro. Dairy was only left off entirely because most families starting

SCD are

coming from a CF diet.

is actually

quite new to me..... only just recently learned that was true from Mimi. It was

nice to

know. I wonder why Elaine didn't included them.

Hmm, I can't imagine Elaine slipping up...on a banana!
