Dear Michele,

I hope you will not take my observation unkindly, but you are going to have to

develop a

lot of patience if you plan to continue with SCD. Two weeks is not enough time

to expect

anything dramatic in my opinion. Those that are blessed with progress deemed

miraculous

are vulnerable to regression later on. Just ask Antoinette.

Healing is a long slow process. Bad bacteria are extremely resiliant. Autism has

other

contributing factors.

You might suspect the pineapple juice for the rash. It does affect me that way.

After six years on SCD, I have come to realize that it's kind of parallel to how

I went from a

brunette to a sliver fox. It happened gradually over time and the process

although not

complete certainly has changed me when I look back.

You will be helped if you try to be a little more relaxed and confident. I know

it isn't easy

and trying something new puts a person under stress until they begin to see

progress.

Hang in there for another two or three weeks.

It seems to me you are feeding very appropriately within the time frame. Are you

keeping

a food log?

I realize that. I'm just having a tough time being I'm going through

it myself & keeping 4 kiddos on it as well. I homeschool them & have

absolutely no help, so it isn't easy to be doing so much right now

feeling so lousy myself.

The baby doesn't get any pineapple juice at all. I'm suspecting the

bit of ghee I had this week (he's nursing). He's sensitive to dairy,

but I figured becz ghee is casein free he might be okay with it.

Maybe not; I'm off it now to test.

I'm trying on the food log but I keep losing track of everything.

Thanks, Michele

*hugs* we are homeschoolers, too. I am not even going to attempt

getting totally onto the diet until I have a long list of supplies

bought so that I can be sure to be successful with it. I know how you

are feeling. I used to fall asleep driving all the time before I

figured out what was going on with me. I wish I would have found this

diet 8 years ago.

Michele,

I know EXACTLY how you feel. You said your daughter is extremely

cranky and obsessed with food right? It is SOOOO hard to start this

diet. The first couple weeks are incredibly tough. I was a walking

crankbomb the first couple weeks because I was SO hungry and

deprived and saw no improvement in my condition.

Hang in there. After 3 weeks I am finally seeing a tiny bit of

improvement and am finally eating enough foods that life seems

bearable again. I know it is extremely hard to do this without some

sort of reassurance that it is working. I promised myself a month.

I almost went off it several times at the beginning but told myself

I could hold out for a month. Keep it up. You can do it!!!! And

when you add new foods, think about what is on the easy to digest

path that will help life feel the most normal. For me the biggest

help was cheese and applesauce (that gave me something to grab as a

quick snack and something to eat for breakfast since eggs and yogurt

both bothered me). Figure out what will help in your situation.

If symptoms don't improve in another week see if there is some food

on the current diet that isn't working (for me it was yogurt).

Keep your chin up and keep going. Things will get better quickly!

I did test them on just a bit of almond butter this morning, & they

seem fine so far. I hope to try the yogurt this week (I didn't get

to it today).

Thanks, Michele
